Are You Ready For Balenciaga’s New Perfumes?
Balenciaga just dropped a 10-fragrance collection that blends its contemporary identity with the house’s history.
By Carlos Keng,
Balenciaga has long been a Hall of Famer since founder Cristobal Balenciaga launched the house in 1917; the couturier has always been revered for his mastery of craft and sculptural, pure lines. But perfumery—one of the most profitable divisions in luxury—has been an aspect of the brand that hasn’t received quite as much attention.
That’s about to change. The maison just announced a new 10-piece perfume collection - exciting news for fans, especially since the last Balenciaga scent appears to be 2016’s B. Balenciaga Intense, according to perfume community and database Fragrantica.
The collection is a major throwback to Le Dix, the very first perfume created by Cristobal Balenciaga in 1947. After a 15-year archival hunt, the house rediscovered the original Le Dix bottle, and the new perfumes are modeled after it—refillable flacons featuring a glass globular cap and hand-tied ribbon.
The original 1947 bottle of Balenciaga’s very first perfume, Le Dix, which is said to be an elegant floral evening scent, blending sparkling bergamot and lemon with a powdery iris heart.
The vintage vibe of the packaging is deliberate - the brand’s aged the new releases to mimic the look of Le Dix. Set against Balenciaga’s signature industrial grey, it’s the perfect mash-up of paying homage to history while embracing the brand’s modern identity.
While the collection has yet to hit Balenciaga’s stores in Singapore, you can snag the full collection at the brand’s flagship on 10 Avenue George V in Paris. Select Balenciaga boutiques across Europe and North America will also carry it, with further roll-outs to stores in Middle East and Asia to be expected later in the year. Official prices here have yet to be released, but according to the Business of Fashion, the 100ml bottles ring in at US$320, or approximately S$410.
Here, a closer look at each of the 10 new releases:
1. LE DIX
Balenciaga Le Dix
Yep, the OG that inspired this new collection is also a part of it, though industry publication CPPLuxury states that the animal-based ingredients used in the 1947 formula have been replaced (those are not longer used in perfumery today) with modern aldehydes. A respectful reimagining of Balenciaga’s first perfume from 1947, Le Dix balances classic iris and violet leaf with incense.
2. NO COMMENT
Balenciaga No Comment
No Comment fuses resinous woods with a hit of ultra-fresh hit of Spanish cypress oil, alongside a trio of synthetic greens. It’s quiet confidence in a bottle—a nod to Balenciaga’s belief that sometimes silence says it all.
3. GETARIA
Balenciaga Getaria
Inspired by Cristobal Balenciaga’s coastal hometown, Getaria is a salty-citrus mix with a hint of crystallised seaweed; think salty ocean breeze meets blazing sun.
4. TWENTY FOUR SEVEN
Balenciaga Twenty Four Seven
Vanilla, amber, musk — all wrapped in a cozy woody hug. Twenty Four Seven is your go-to scent for when you want to feel calm, collected, and a little addictive. Perfect for those moments when you need a bulwark against the chaos.
5. TO BE CONFIRMED
Balenciaga To Be Confirmed
A one-of-a-kind “kimono tulip” blend—made from night-blooming floral extracts—turns Balenciaga’s iconic Tulip silhouette from 1965 into scent form. Add some steamed silver needle tea extract, and it’s less “signature scent” and more hazy, translucent vibes.
6. MUSCARA
Balenciaga Muscara
Like a smoky, kohl-lined eye, Muscara is raw and seductive. Warm ambrette seed meets slick iris (that’s said to be reminiscent of varnish), creating a hypnotic tension that’s both polished and primal.
7. 100%
Balenciaga 100%
Here’s one for the maximalists: 100% cranks up the volume with Damascena rose essences and a metallic synthetic twist, and you have a statement-making floral bomb.
8. EXTRA
Balenciaga Extra
Extra hits you with a punchy duo of spicy pink and black pepper, with a smoky, leathery undertone; it’s basically flamboyance in scent form.
9. CRISTOBAL
Balenciaga Cristobal
Oud royalty. Cristobal is deep and dignified, weaving rich oud with patchouli and oakmoss. A tribute to the founder and his sculptural designs, it’s oud with a silky, textured twist.
10. INCENSE PERFUMUM
Balenciaga Incense Perfumum
Incense Perfumum is the collection’s anchor—a smoky, timeworn scent that feels both ancient and modern. It blends three kinds of incense oils with cedarwood and labdanum, balancing warm amber glow with a sharp, clear edge.
