NewJeans' Minji Is Obsessed With This Chanel Eye Serum

Fact: the skin around the eyes is up to 10 times thinner than the rest of the face; ergo it's far more prone to showing visible expression lines and signs of fatigue. Those are inevitable for various reasons - human biology, and eyes naturally crinkle when we emote.

The idea is not to halt ageing entirely (that's not possible anyway), but the process can be done gracefully and intelligently. Exemplifying that ethos is the new Nº1 de Chanel Revitalising Eye Serum, which is touted to reduce signs of fatigue, and refresh the delicate skin around the peepers.

As with everything in the Nº1 de Chanel collection, various components of the red camellia flower have been infused into the product - for example, the eye serum is packed with red camellia extract, which reportedly boosts skin vitality mechanisms by 63 per cent and protects the skin from oxidative stress. It also features camellia yeast, an idiosyncratic Chanel ingredient, to hydrate and care for the delicate skin around the eyes, while red camellia oil helps to strengthen the skin barrier.

So holistic is the conceptualisation around the Nº1 De Chanel Revitalising Eye Serum that the maison has even designed a patented applicator with which to apply the product. Crafted out of stainless steel, the camellia bud-shaped applicator is said to provide a cooling effect — a first for the brand — and it helps to both massage the eye area and dispense the ideal amount of the refreshing gel-like serum.

Other key ingredients include red coffee berries, peptides, and a new 3D complex composed of active ingredients (escin, and extracts from yeast and the acmella oleracea plant) to help improve various facets around the eyes (under-eye bags, dark circles, and stress lines)

What were your first impressions when you tried the N°1 De Chanel skincare ritual for the first time?

""I was very surprised by the various textures of each product at first. I didn’t expect the application to be this pleasant! I remember that the cleanser N°1 De Chanel Poudre de Mousse was very fun to use to wash my face, as the powder transforms into a very sensorial foam. I also love the smell of the N°1 De Chanel L'eau Rouge (a mist); I always wear it when doing my skincare at night. "It's the N°1 De Chanel Revitalising Serum, without a doubt! What I like about it is its light texture that leaves my skin fresh and hydrated. I also really enjoy the massaging effect of the applicator that comes with the newly released N°1 De Chanel Revitalising Eye Serum. This eye serum is a product that I can bring everywhere with me, so I always have it in my bag when I am travelling."

You have a very intense lifestyle with concerts, public events… What are your tips to appear refreshed and well rested?

"The eyes are not only the most sensitive part of the face but also one of the first things we notice when we look at someone. That is why I think taking care of the area around your eyes is crucial. Using the N°1 De Chanel Revitalising Eye Serum with a massaging tool makes my face look more luminous!"

What importance does one’s gaze has in everyday life?

"I believe the eyes never deceive. All the NewJeans members give energy to each other and to our fans through eye contact on stage. I think you can convey so many feelings towards other people through eye contact alone!"
