The Chanel beauty boutique at the second basement of Ion Orchard is a familiar sight for anyone who’s passed through the mall’s busy concourse. Go just a little further, though, and you’ll discover a slice of heaven that’s one of the Parisian luxury brand’s best open secrets: the first standalone Chanel Prive boutique in Asia, which opened in late August last year. For those unfamiliar, that’s the brand’s offering of facial treatments.

The whole concept of Chanel Prive is designed around privacy and personalisation. And privacy is really what it’s all about: the design of the roughly 818 sq ft space is heavily inspired by Gabrielle Chanel’s legendary Paris apartment in rue Cambon. Unlike the brand’s fashion, jewellery and beauty boutiques which use the black and white scheme more heavily, Prive boutiques are dressed with white and gold wallpaper, and coromandel panels – the latter a nod to the screens that Chanel herself was fond of. The effect is more cosy, intimate and reserved.
The three luxurious cabin rooms of Chanel Prive, where skin treatments are conducted, are dressed up in wallpaper inspired by the coromandel screens in Gabrielle Chanel's rue Cambon apartment.
The newest facial being offered at Chanel Prive is the Revitalising Treatment, which prevents and corrects signs of ageing using the brand’s cutting-edge Nº1 De Chanel skincare collection. It’s a 75-minute experience which makes full use of the Nº1 De Chanel line’s key ingredient of red ‘Czar’ camellia to remedy the five signs of ageing. By tapping on the potency of the flower’s natural resilience – it blooms and thrives in harsh winters – the brand aims to reduce the appearance of pores, wrinkles, elasticity of skin, the dullness of your complexion and discomfort of the skin.

What the team discovered is that the petals of “The Czar'' contain a concentration of protocatechuic acid, a specific active molecule that has previously not been found in any other camellias it analysed. This active extract plays a key role in preventing cells from entering the stage of deterioration called senescence by revitalising the skin cells’ vitality and health and strengthening the skin barrier function. This now forms the heart of every formulation in the Nº1 de Chanel line, where every product contains up to 76 per cent of camellia extracts, oils and fresh camellia water.
To reap the benefits of the skin rejuvenating treatment, FEMALE roped in Gen Zer Kaci Beh, who is one of the most recognisable faces in Singapore's modelling scene to experience the facial first hand. The treatment was just what the 23-year-old needed to prep her skin before she jetted off to London for a work stint. Click here to get her POV of the treatment.
The Revitalising Treatment – $230 for a single session or $1,150 for a package of six treatments – is available at the standalone boutique at Chanel Prive Ion Orchard; at the Chanel Fragrance & Beauty Boutique at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands; or at Chanel Prive on Level 4 of Tangs at Tang Plaza. Meanwhile, the Nº1 De Chanel is available at all Chanel Beauty boutiques and counters, and its online store.
