Get The Ultra Modern Beauty Look From Dior Cruise '17
For the French brand’s recent Cruise collection, Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director for Dior Make Up, created a modern make-up look as a counterpoint to a show based on memories and emotions.
Presented at the magnificent Blenheim Palace, the collection was all about renewing links with the exceptional place in which the House of Dior had previously shown collections in 1954 and 1958.
While the clothes were about evoking memories, the makeup was ultra contemporary. Eyes were the focal point of the look with a focus on graphic modernity. "I used the deep bronze shade from the 5 Couleurs palette Parisian Sky, which I applied as a colour-block in a single sweep over the entire eyelid, from the lash root to the eyebrows. This extreme look was chosen to contrast with the Baroque beauty of the decor," says Peter Philips.
Complexions were another big thing, and were all about luminousity with subtle sculpting. Philips shares, “After evening out the complexion with Diorskin Forever Fluid Foundation, I created shape by gently contouring with the DiorBlush Light & Contour jumbo stick. Applied to the hollows of the cheeks as well as the parts of the face that catch the light, its two shades enabled us to emphasise the architecture of the face in a nuanced and transparent way. As a finishing touch, I applied just a hint of iridescent Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer. This provided a natural and luminous result."
