If you’ve ever wished your makeup came with a built-in beauty filter—one that actually lasts all day without looking cakey—Dior may have just made that dream come true. Peter Philips, the creative mastermind behind Dior Makeup, has expanded the Dior Forever family with three new products inspired by the flawless finish of Instagram filters. Think: setting powders and blushes that blur imperfections and hydrate your skin.

First up, the Dior Forever Nude Matte Filter and Nude Radiant Filter powders ($98 each). These aren’t your grandma’s powders—they’re weightless, hyaluronic acid–infused formulas designed to smooth pores, control shine, and keep your skin looking in tip-top shape. The Matte Filter delivers a lightweight, “matte-but-not-flat” finish that smooths pores, controls shine, and reportedly lasts up to 24 hours. Meanwhile, the Radiant Filter offers a soft-focus blur with micro-shimmers in a translucent base, adding subtle glow without heaviness.

Then there’s the Dior Forever Blush Soft Filter, an airy, cream-to-powder blush that melts into the skin, leaving a buildable, soft matte flush that looks like your cheeks just got pinched by the cold, only better. There are seven blush shades ($79 each), ranging from soft pinks and nudes to brighter hues like fuchsia and violet, including a stand-out true red (06 Hibiscus), which is said to nail that sun-kissed vibe. “Red might seem tricky, but it’s actually the skin’s most natural color,” says Philips.

Below, the makeup maestro shares more on the new launches:

With the new Dior Forever Nude Matte and Radiant Filter powders, you’re seriously upgrading the classic setting step. What was the biggest breakthrough in making a powder feel almost like skincare, especially for a generation that’s hyper-aware of textures and ingredients?

Peter Philips (PP): “The challenge is finding the right balance between skincare ingredients and cosmetic makeup results—a modern finish that works both in the compact and on the skin. For these powders, the key was incorporating ingredients like hyaluronic acid without compromising the makeup effect. The formula’s architecture is very delicate. For the Radiant Filter, it’s a precise blend of micro-shimmers and perfecting powders in a transparent base—not a talc-heavy base—that delivers the blurring effect. The challenge was maintaining that transparency while enhancing the makeup result with micro-pearlescence and micro-pigments, without overwhelming the formula.

The Nude Matte Filter uses a similar structure but relies on pigments and soft, subtle pearly ingredients—though I hesitate to call it pearlescence to avoid confusion. The micro-pigments are finely broken up to create the blurring effect, combined with hyaluronic acid. It’s all about balance—a very specific architectural act—but I’m not a chemist; that’s the labs’ expertise. We’re always thrilled by their innovation and skill.”

The new Dior Forever is inspired by beauty filters. In an era where filters and virtual enhancements shape beauty standards, what does it mean for makeup to mimic this effect? And can you share Dior’s beauty philosophy around this?

PP: “Those are great questions. The reference to beauty filters is really about the blurring effect and the way light is reflected in the products. Take the Dior Forever Blush, for example—it’s a cream-to-powder formula where the powder creates a blurring effect, almost like a filter that evens out the skin. It’s less about glow or shine and more about softening imperfections.

The setting powders also reflect this idea. They’re not purely mattifying; instead, they offer a luminous take on mattifying, which aligns with that blurring effect. Think of it like putting a veil over your lens—it softens and diffuses light for a subtle, natural finish. That’s exactly what we achieve with the Nude Matte Filter and the Nude Radiant Filter—the latter plays with pearlescence and a very fine texture for a gentle glow.

As for Dior’s beauty philosophy, it’s all about creating products that strike the right balance between skincare benefits and makeup performance. This philosophy runs through everything—from lipsticks to eyeshadows, foundations, and mascaras. We don’t set trends; instead, we create high-quality products grounded in what we stand for. If people love the quality, color, and message behind a product, it naturally becomes a trend. Our role is to provide the tools—whether those tools spark a micro trend or a major one depends on the people who use them. Ultimately, we’re here to serve beauty lovers by delivering originality, quality, and excitement.”

Blush is having a major moment right now—from soft, diffused cheeks to graphic placements. How did you design the Dior Blush Soft Filter to fit this new era of playful, expressive, yet wearable color?

PP: “Well, the idea behind this blush line is that it completes the Dior Forever family. I like to compare Dior Forever a bit to Rouge Dior—it’s more classic and iconic, while the Backstage line feels lighter and more playful. So within the Dior universe, we offer plenty of ways to experiment with blush. There’s definitely been a huge revival of blush in all its shapes and placements—you can put blush anywhere nowadays, and it still looks cool.

When creating this line, we wanted to complement what we already had. We offer different application methods: stick blushes with a creamy texture, our compact powder blushes in Rouge Dior or Rosy Glow, which even have a pH-reactive element for added effect, giving them their own identity. Now, this new whipped cream texture falls somewhere between powder and cream—adding a sensual, playful option.

So essentially, we created a range of textures and shades that give people the tools to have fun with blush trends and create whatever look they want—whether subtle and demure or bright and bold. From sparkly to matte, blurry to shiny, there’s something for everyone to play with.”
