Have You Heard? Fenty Beauty Just Replaced Its Star Foundation With This New Product
Say goodbye to the Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation – the new Fluid Flex Natural Matte Longwear Foundation is taking its place, after going through three years of development.
By Rachel Yohannan,
Many a beauty junkie found themselves in distress when Fenty Beauty announced the impending discontinuation of its Pro Filt’r Fluid Flex Natural Matte Longwear Foundation – a base product that singlehandedly changed the game for liquid foundation wearers, especially dark-skinned girlies and those whose complexions fall outside of the standard spectrum of shades. It’s a godsend for oily skin and humid weather too, making it a cult beauty staple for almost the past decade.
Turns out, founder Rihanna just had something better up her sleeve. If you haven’t already spotted it on the shelves of Sephora, let us be the ones to introduce you to the new Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Fluid Flex Natural Matte Longwear Foundation. Consider it the upgraded v version of its predecessor, formulated using new technology while taking into account feedback from the beauty community from over seven (!) years.
So, what’s different this time? Fenty’s Pro Filt’r Fluid Flex liquid foundation is meant to “move” with the wearer, with longwear pigments that stand strong against oxidation and external elements. It’s designed to look super natural – just like your own skin, but better – and offer clean, matte coverage while remaining breathable. And, just like before, there’s a wide, inclusive range of 50 shades to choose from, so finding your perfect shade shouldn’t be a huge quest.
Of course, it’s not a Fenty foundation if it isn’t resistant against water, sweat, and humidity. At the same time, it provides all-day hydration with starfruit extract, while also combating sebum-induced shine.
If you’re still unconvinced, know this: The Pro Filt’r Fluid Flex foundation was carefully created over the span of three years, with testing done at every step, including shade-matching down to various undertones. Over 30 prototypes were trialled by both beauty industry experts and regular users across different parts of the globe, with different lighting scenarios also considered.
There’s also the new Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r 2.0 Foundation Brush (sold separately) with a soft angled tip for getting into all corners of your face. It’s a pretty pink piece, though we reckon you’ll be just fine using an existing brush, sponge, or fingers if you so prefer.
