Huda Beauty Just Dropped A Green Setting Powder — Here’s How To Use It
Not sure if you need a green setting powder? Here’s how you can incorporate Huda Beauty’s newest Matcha Milk Cake Easy Bake loose setting powder into your beauty routine.
By Lucy Lauron,
She gave us pink, purple, then blue, and now, she’s giving us green. Huda Beauty just dropped its latest addition to the Easy Bake Loose Baking & Setting Powder family — and it’s a matcha-fied mint green. Whether for it’s name (Matcha Milk Cake, after everyone’s favourite drink) or it’s viridescent manner, it’s already gotten plenty of online attention ahead of its March 12 drop.
This just in: Huda Beauty’s latest drop is a bright green setting powder. But who is this product made for?
While it’s not the most conventional colour for a loose setting powder, it’s not as outlandish as most are making it out to be. For one, it’s extremely useful for colour-correcting red hues — so if you’ve got an intense Asian flush, this is about to be your new beauty essential. (Speaking of which, you might enjoy our picks of the best parties and raves this March, or Central Cee’s upcoming appearance at Marquee).
For the rest of us, however, do we really need a green setting powder? The short answer is, it depends. Here’s a crash course on how and when to best use Huda Beauty’s green setting powder, without looking like you’ve just stepped out of Wicked.

HOW TO USE HUDA BEAUTY’S GREEN MATCHA MILK CAKE SETTING POWDER
1. Cover up extreme redness
If you’ve got rosacea, or very red, irritated skin, you might already know about the wonders of green colour correctors and concealers. The idea is: red and green are complementary colours that sit opposite each other on the colour wheel. Using one over the other will balance them out and even out your skin tone.
That same idea can be applied here. If you’ve got very red skin and love the look of matte makeup, a green setting powder will hit all your bases. That said, because of how light Matcha Milk Cake is, it might work best on fair to medium complexions.
2. Shade matching for olive undertones
If your base makeup always appears too orange or pink, and you have a green-grey skin tone, you might have an olive undertone. Here’s how a green setting powder could be useful to you: by helping to perfect your base.
For the foundations and concealers that you love, but are just a tad too warm-looking, a green setting powder will neutralise the red hues in your products and help them match your skin tone better. It’s the best way to save yourself a whole lot of cash without having to abandon your favourite products.
Huda Beauty’s Cherry Blossom Cake and Matcha Milk Cake side-by-side. Fun fact: Matcha Milk Cake is a two-in-one powder — while its exterior is a colour correcting green, each particle has a pink core in the shade Cherry Blossom Cake, to help brighten the skin. In a single step, it promises to colour correct redness, even the skin tone, and brighten.
3. Blurring extremely textured skin or blemishes
If you struggle to cover irritated acne or have very textured skin that always shows through under your makeup, a green setting powder might help. Applying Huda Beauty’s green setting powder over your makeup would add an additional layer of colour correction, whilst the soft-focus, pore-blurring technology smoothens out your skin.
With its brightening core in Cherry Blossom Cake as part of its formula, the Matcha Milk Cake setting powder also provides the additional benefit of evening out your skin tone — all without having to pack on more concealer or foundation, and the risk of looking cake-y.
4. Reducing the appearance of Asian flush
If you get flushed from your face down to your neck after a few sips of alcohol, Matcha Milk Cake is your new best friend. Using the logic of colour theory, dusting your face and neck with some green setting powder could help prevent your Asian flush from showing through.
You could even take it out with you for light touch-ups throughout the night. That said, a mini travel-friendly version hasn’t been announced yet. Until then, we’ll be making do with bringing the full-sized version around.
5. For those who prefers light coverage foundations or skin tints
This is for those who hate the feeling of foundation or simply prefer to wear as little makeup as possible. If you love your sheer skin tints and light coverage foundations, but still want to correct redness and blur blemishes, Huda Beauty’s green setting powder is the beauty launch you’ve been waiting for.
It’s a three-in-one tool: it sets your makeup, blurs your skin, and neutralises redness — all while keeping your beauty routine to its bare essentials.
