Kylie Jenner’s new Hybrid Blush is now available — and here’s my honest review

Not a cream, not a power, but a hybrid of both. However, does it have true staying power? We put it to the test.

Kylie Cosmetics has landed on our shores and we excitedly got four shades out of the Hybrid Blush collection for the Singapore market to test and boy, we’ve got the deets for you.

What the Kylie Cosmetics Hybrid Blush does

According to the media statement, the Hybrid Blush is the first of its kind as it’s a hybrid of both cream and powder. It’s said that the unique formula delivers a unique sensory experience, blending the best performances of pressed powders with those of hot-poured ones.

First impressions

At first look, this blusher fits in the palm of your hand and has a soft, matte case. It’s giving “take it everywhere.” The case comes with just a mirror, no powder puff, but honestly, your fingers are your best beauty tool.

So with just two swipes I managed to pick up the high-shine pigments easily. It feels silky, light and it melts into my skin like a cream, but it has a smoothing effect of a powder. I like my blusher shade light, but the colour is buildable with a soft-matte look. Kylie Cosmetics claims that the finish lasts up to 12 hours, and honestly, I wore it through the day and while waiting for the bus under the scorching sun and the colour didn’t budge even as sweat started trickling down my face. Some slight blurring occurred but not enough to warrant an alarm.

Out of the four shades I tried, I liked Winter Kissed 2.0 best, because it has a cool tint with a nice pop of colour on my tanned skin tone without it being too dramatic. I’d go all out to say, all girlies would look great with this shade!

At S$40, this Hybrid Blush is pretty much on par with similar products as Rare Beauty’s Soft Pinch Luminous Powder Blush and M.A.C. Cosmetics’ Powder Blush. It’s a nice buy and you won’t regret it!
