Supermodel David Gandy Shares His Favourite London Hangouts & The Kind Of Scent He Likes On A Woman

In town yesterday for a meet and greet, British supermodel and face of Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue fragrance David Gandy shares his top places to dine at in the UK and his favourite female scent.

He's the face of Dolce & Gabbana's Light Blue fragrance - a light, sensual scent characterised by notes of oak, juniper and szechuan pepper - since 2006. But there's more to the man than his smouldering gaze and striking looks: He's a columnist for top magazines like British Vogue and GQ; currently works with British retailer Marks & Spencer on a clothing line; and even bought over a footwear company, David Preston, earlier in January this year. Here, our chat with the charming and witty model on all things fashion and beauty-related:

One fashion brand he would love to work with "I've been working with Marks & Spencer on a 24-piece line that has since turned into 48-piece collection comprising swimwear, gym wear and resort wear (and it's something I want to continue doing). But I'd love to work with Dolce & Gabbana and maybe design a suit (for the brand) one day."

On celebrities fronting fragrances "It shouldn't be about the celebrity or the social coverage you're going to get. It should be about the story - that's how you can create an iconic image. People worry too much nowadays (about all this) and all the creativity has been taken out of it. But when you get the creativity right, it's inspiring to people: they want to tell it to their friends and they want the product."

A scent he loves "Dolce & Gabbana Velvet - it's very exclusive and absolutely smashes Tom Ford out of the water. What I love about it is that it's so different from what people usually have (and also has a sense of) individuality."

The kind of scent he loves on a woman "Something fresh, crisp, subtle and not too sweet. I like to smell (a woman) once I get close to her - I don't like to smell her before she enters the room. But a girl should wear what she wants at the end of the day and not worry about what I think."

His grooming regime "I exfoliate once or twice a week (as well as apply) a serum, rose oil and moisturiser. I'm using (a moisturiser from) SK-II at the moment, and I'm also learning more about everything that goes into every product and what's good for (your skin). The more natural the ingredients, the better."

Favourite restaurants & bars in the UK "The Beaumont hotel (a luxury hotel with Art Deco furnishings and only 50 rooms available): I spend far too much time there. Brown's hotel is very historic - it's where Winston Churchill spent a lot of time in during the second World War - and has a great bar. Jason Atherton is a friend of mine, and (his electic bar-restaurant space) Social Eating House is my favourite because (the food here) is incredible."
