Shanghainese label Jin Zhi Yu Ye gives the traditional Chinese outfit a chic twist.

Founded in 2001, it's Jin Zhi Yu Ye's penchant for marrying timeless elegance with a contemporary touch - think classic cheongsams updated with modern details like bold prints and colours, and sheer skirts - that makes it a household name in Shanghai. Crafted from silk and other natural materials like cotton, brides can expect impeccable craftsmanship and silhouettes that will fit like a glove.
The label is currently housed at The Proposal Bridal, and cheongsams are available off-the-rack with in-house alteration services provided. But if you're seeking a custom-made piece, it takes about three weeks at an additional 10% cost.
