What Went Down At Female's Final Party Of 2019?

Here's a round-up of Female's final party of the year, held in conjunction with the Alex Blake Charlie Sessions festival at Pasir Panjang Power Station.

45 is a long or short time depending on how you look at it - though it's probably a longer time than the age of most who would be reading this. In April this year, Female put on a Studio 54-themed party to celebrate our 45th anniversary at Taboo over on Neil Road and – not to get too ahead of ourselves – it was a pretty fun night.

To wrap up our fantastic year (if you haven't heard, our print circulation is up 82%, according to the Nielsen Singapore Media Index), we threw one final party to give our thanks to the readers, friends of the magazine and the creatives of every stripe we've spotlighted over the past year.

The venue: a cavernous, industrial space in the form of the long-defunct Pasir Panjang Power Station, coinciding with the first edition of Alex Blake Charlie Sessions – probably Singapore's first music festival to feature an all-women line-up. Full disclosure: we're their media partners.

It was a pretty diverse crowd checking out the equally eclectic acts curated by the Alex Blake Charlie Sessions team. Making the effort to join us (we know it's a trek to get to that remote location, and on a Saturday night to boot – thanks guys!) were models of the moment Iman Fandi, Fiona Fussi, Layla Ong, Jean Yong, independent fashion/art collectives Youths In Balaclava and Why Not?, songstresses Narelle Kheng, Shye and Ysa Yaneza, party queens Bobby Luo, Ritz Lim and Becca D'Bus – and a good surprise in the form of actress and former nominated member of parliament, Janice Koh and many more.
