Here Are The Most Anticipated 2018 Album Releases You Shouldn't Miss

Music fiends, rejoice - there's a slew of artists, from Justin Timberlake to The 1975, slated to release new albums in 2018. Below, we've listed the ones that we're most eager to listen to.

#1: Justin Timberlake, Man of The Woods (2 Feb)

The singer, songwriter, actor, producer and all-round multi-talent is releasing his fifth studio album on 2nd February, which he has called his "most ambitious" yet, following up from 2013's The 20/20 Experience.

The album will consist of 16 songs, featuring multiple collaborations with big names such as Alicia Keys and Chris Stapleton. The lead single, "Filthy", has already been released, while starting from 18 January, three additional music videos directed by three different directors will be released weekly - the first one, for the track "Supplies", has already attracted much attention for its portrayal of current social issues.

Indeed, 2018 is set to be Timberlake's year - besides the new LP, Timberlake is headlining the Super Bowl Halftime show on 4th February, taking over from Lady Gaga in 2017. In case you don't remember, the last time JT performed at the Super Bowl was in 2004 with Janet Jackson, which resulted in the infamous 'Nipplegate' scandal.

#2: Rich Brian, AMEN (2 Feb)

The 18-year-old Indonesian native (formerly known as Rich Chigga) shot to international fame in 2016 when he dropped the highly infectious debut single "Dat $tick", which quickly went hugely viral and even gained the attention of prominent rappers such as Desiigner.

Since then, the young rapper, who hails from Jakarta, has been residing in Los Angeles to work on his music. Besides embarking on his first U.S. tour in April 2017, Brian has also released many more singles, the most recent one being "See Me", which describes his journey in music so far, and is likely his most personal and introspective song to date. To celebrate his debut album, Brian will also be going on tour in North America and Europe up until March 2018.

#3: Rhye, BLOOD (2 Feb)

Based in Los Angeles, Rhye started out as an R&B musical duo, consisting of Canadian singer Milosh and Danish instrumentalist Robin Hannibal. They released their widely acclaimed debut album, Woman, in 2013, which included hit singles such as "Open" and "The Fall".

Fast-forward five years, and Hannibal is reportedly no longer part of the duo, while Rhye is gearing up for its sophomore album release. The 11-track album will feature songs such as the slow jam "Taste", which has already received several positive reviews. To tide over the wait, check out the stunning singles "Please" and "Summer Days" which Rhye released last summer.

#4: MGMT, Little Dark Age (9 Feb)

MGMT has come a long way since its formation in 2002 - the American indie rock band has put out three studio albums, won several awards (including a Grammy) and went on countless tours. Now, continuing from their 2013 self-titled album, the band is set to release their fourth LP, accompanied by a European and American tour that will kick-start on 30th January in Berlin.

Three singles have already been released from the 10-track album, namely “When You Die”, “Hand it Over”, and “Little Dark Age”. While the band still remains best known for their massive, Grammy-nominated 2007 hit "Kids", here's hoping that the new album, which the band has said was mostly written in 2016 and is largely reflective of current events, will be equally promising.

#5: The 1975, Music for Cars (TBA)

The English rock band first burst onto the scene in 2013 with their self-titled debut album, which topped charts and produced the hit singles such as "Chocolate" and "Girls". Now, the band is preparing for their third studio effort, with the album title derived from one of the band's earlier EPs.

While not much is known about the new LP as of yet, the band's frontman and lead vocalist, Matthew Healy, has likened it to the final instalment of a trilogy of albums, calling it the "end of an era", though definitely not an end for the band. If that's not enough of a treat for fans, the band has also teased that they will release a new EP ahead of the album.
