Best Upcoming Parties In Singapore In Oct And Nov
From Strange Weather to Brew, parties are back in full throttle again.
By Nicholas See,
As pandemic restrictions are gradually being eased, Singapore’s vibrant party scene has returned to full bloom. The nightlife landscape has changed greatly, though. Some of the late-night fixtures that we knew and love back in 2020 are all gone with no comeback in sight while new exciting ones have emerged in their place. To help you navigate your way through a seemingly foreign party scene and cement your after-hours plans, we have rounded up some of the wildest parties that are happening in the next few weeks.
On the prowl for more inclusive events? We got you. Local queer iconoclast Bobby Luo’s events are always highly anticipated by the community and this voguing extravaganza is no different. Located in Hard Rock Cafe, expect various voguing and old-way battles along with performances by drag queens and queer artists alike. Watch queens from the House of Mizrahi, 007 and more perform to the beats of Shigeki, Bobby Obby Obby (Luo’s DJ alter-ego) and C2AC.
Tickets can be purchased at $20 for standard entry here
If you love brunch, brooze and beats, look no further – Sunny Side Up’s the party for you. Happening within riverside restaurant Eat Sum Thing on Oct 8, this might be one of queer event organiser FomoHomo’s most unique formats this month. A scrumptious brunch menu crafted by ex-Les Amis chef Brandon Lee along with great sets by Soh, Shigeki and Toppings? We say yes to all of that.
Tickets are on sale here at $45 each (inclusive of a main and an alcoholic drink)
All-inclusive party Club Kiki might be a new party fixture here, but it has arguably grown to become one of the most favoured queer events in the city. Its upcoming event seems to be bigger and better. Hosted in the one and only Tuff Club on Oct 9, expect drag queens, banging beats and much more.
Tickets can be purchased here at $25 each
Situated in Projector X: Riverside Point on Oct 14, CatchUsMove: In Uniform is a pop-up party that showcases the epitome of local drag culture. Organised by Salome Blaque, catch performers like Vanda Miss Joaquim and Vyla Virus in a wild melange of costumes. This time, the theme is uniform, so be sure to doll up for the ball.
Tickets can be purchased at $33 for early birds and $40 for standard entry here
All-time favourite Brew is finally back to usurp the throne of daytime parties (it kicks off at 4pm and runs till 10pm). Situated in the backyard of Chye Seng Huat Hardware, this iteration on Oct 22 boasts a veteran-filled line-up of DJs like Dean Chew and Kaye amongst many others. On top of that, great beer and food at an arm’s length away is definitely an added plus for us.
Tickets can be purchased at $20 each at Chye Seng Huat Hardware’s official site
Multi-label store, community space and now party venue? Spades' second iteration of Noise has got us all excited for Halloween. This time, the line-up includes four vastly different acts. Veterans like A’alely Zahid from DarkerThanWax will be spinning alongside newer faces like Mako, Vix and Skirts9 – infusing a plethora of different perspectives and genres into the party itself. Held on Oct 22 in the store's space at 48 MacTaggart Road itself, the party might just be the opportunity for you to dress up in your best spooky fits.
Tickets can be purchased at $20 each at Spades' official website
October happens to be the season of scares and thrills, which means it’s time to dust off your freakiest costumes. Queer film experience collective The Glory Hoes is hosting a Halloween screening of cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show at Projector X: Picturehouse – and an afterparty to match. Come dressed in your best Rocky looks for the Hoe Down party and revel in the Halloween spirit that only such a party can give.
Tickets can be purchased at $39 each for access to both the screening and the afterparty here
After two long years, the much-anticipated queer Halloween party Baby Boy has finally unveiled its 16th edition at Hard Rock Cafe Cuscaden and it’s slated to be the biggest yet. Some of Singapore’s best drag queens like Sapphire Blast and ViviHoe will be there along with DJs Gay Chav and Lokies Khan, so there’s a whole lot to look forward to. Be sure to come dressed to impress – the best fit wins a $200 gift voucher from Super Freak Boutique as well as an entire bottle of housepour.
Tickets can be purchased at $15 for early bird and $20 for advanced here
The first party by recurring rave Strange Weather in August at Projector X: Riverside left quite an impression among regular partygoers for its focus on spatial and visual experience. With otherworldly music that ranges from synth-punk to dark disco and surreal but purposeful visuals to match, the experience created by DJ A’alely Zahid from music collective DarkerThanWax is hard to miss. Thankfully, we don’t have to wait long. Its second iteration will be coming soon on Oct 29 at an undisclosed location – only to be revealed a day before the party – and tickets are already selling fast.
Tickets can be purchased at $20 for early birds and $30 for regular entry here
Before the iconic Golden Mile Complex vacates itself and mark the end of an era, Late Shenanigans is giving us an opportunity to party within the space for the last time ever. Situated in the iconic arts studio Room 0416, where many local artists have performed tantalising gigs in, the mega party has an act for everyone. From rock quartet Cactus Cactus to hardbass musician Thirst, get ready for a multi-genre extravaganza on Nov 12.
