Everything You Need To Know About Bini, The First Filipino Girl Group To Perform At Coachella
This electrifying Filipino octet is bringing P-pop to Coachella’s stage — here’s everything to know about them.

Amid a SEA pop resurgence, with the likes of 88rising’s newest Indonesian quartet Nona entering the mix, BINI’s global traction arrives at just the right moment. For the uninitiated, this eight-piece girl group from the Philippines just made history as the first Filipino act to perform at Coachella. With a breakout set that reportedly drew a crowd of over 100,000 at the Mojave Stage last week — during a late afternoon slot, no less — it’s clear this is only the beginning of their rise to global stardom.
Who is Bini?
Bini is an eight-member Filipino girl group composed of members Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna, and Sheena, all between the ages of 22 and 25. Their name Bini – derivative of the Filipino word “binibini”, meaning young lady in Tagalog – established them as the representation of the modern Filipino woman: empowered and independent whilst being sweet and sassy.
Visually, the group leans into an unapologetically bold Y2K, street-style aesthetic with tropical, island-girl influences. Most recently, they stepped out in ethereal, teal, siren-like looks alongside gold, warrior-inspired outfits for their Coachella debut — a nod to Filipino heritage while performing for a global audience.
What is Bini’s music genre?
A quick shuffle through their discography will reveal Bini’s music as the embodiment of P-pop (otherwise known as Pinoy pop). Well, what exactly is P-pop? Think of it as an amalgamation of original Filipino musical traditions with international influences like K-pop.
While Bini’s earlier songs, like their debut single Born to Win, leaned more towards bubblegum and teen pop, their musical style has evolved in recent years to include other genres like electropop and hip-hop — a sound evident in popular summer anthems like Pantropiko and Bikini. Being the bilingual girls they are, their songs contain a mix of English and Tagalog lyrics, soundtracked to upbeat dance-pop and tropical house rhythms.
When did Bini debut?
Formed in a similar way as global girl group Katseye, Bini actually got their start in the music industry way earlier than you would expect. The group was formed back in 2019 through ABS-CBN’s Star Hunt Academy – an idol training ground and talent development programme in the Philippines – and officially debuted in June 2021. That’s right, Bini was also created through the rigorous K-pop idol training system, but skipped out the public survival show formula widely used in the industry.

Despite their popularity in the Philippines, where they are affectionately known as the Nation’s Girl Group, it wasn’t until recently that Bini started to gain global attention. Following the release of their newest EP Signals, Bini delivered a standout performance on the Mojave Stage on day one of Coachella 2026, marking a historic moment as the first-ever Filipino act to perform at the festival. During their 45-minute set, they performed a 10-song setlist to a packed late afternoon crowd, singing and dancing to some of their biggest hits like Pantropiko, Salamin, Salamin, and their newest track, the catchy summer anthem Blush.
Is Bini coming to Singapore?
Blooms (the name for Bini’s fandom) in Singapore will be delighted to know that the octet has recently announced Singapore as one of the international tour stops on their Bini Signals World Tour 2026, kicking off on 20 June 2026 in Manila. While the exact tour date for Singapore hasn’t been revealed yet, just know that we’re eagerly awaiting a chance to witness their charms up close.
