Here’s Everything You Need To Know Ahead of Euphoria Season 3

From a recap of season 2’s gripping cliffhangers, to new cast members, and all the juicy details on what’s coming next, we’ve got you covered on everything you need to know about Euphoria season 3.

Euphoria Season 3
HBO Max

It’s official, we’re less than a month away from the highly anticipated third season of Euphoria. After a four-year long wait, Sam Levinson’s widely-popular chaotic HBO teen drama finally returns to our screens on April 13.

While you may have gotten a glimpse of what’s to come through the trailer or clocked hints from Pierpaolo Piccioli’s Balenciaga Fall Winter Collection collaboration with Euphoria’s creator Sam Levinson, here’s a full rundown of everything you need to know before Euphoria season 3’s release.

A quick recap of Euphoria Season 2’s major cliffhangers

Euphoria Season 3

Alexa Demie as Maddy Perez in Euphoria Season 3

HBO Max

For those that need a refresher, season 2 ended on a bunch of nail-biting cliffhangers. For one, Fezco’s fate hangs in the balance following his arrest after an intense shootout with a SWAT team. However, given the tragic passing of Angus Cloud in 2023, it’s uncertain how the show would be addressing his character’s fate or romance with Maude Apatow’s character Lexi Howard – which remains in limbo following his notable absence from her school play.

On the same note, Javon Walton’s character Ashtray was seemingly killed by the police after a red laser was aimed at him when he barricaded himself in the bathroom. But is he really dead? His death was obviously implied but a body was never explicitly shown, leaving a sliver of ambiguity to the fate of his character and the possibility for a surprise return in season 3.

Euphoria Season 3

Jacob Elordi as Nate Jacobs in Euphoria Season 3

HBO Max

Perhaps the biggest cliffhanger of all is Rue’s debt to drug dealer Laurie. After Rue’s mother discovers the $10,000 suitcase of drugs supplied by Laurie and flushes them down the toilet, Rue never paid back her debt, nor did she return the suitcase of drugs – leaving this storyline unresolved in the finale. However, it seems like Rue’s past finally caught up to her – as we see Laurie and her henchmen unexpectedly cornering Rue in the season 3 trailer. We can only wait to see exactly how this pans out.

What to expect in Euphoria Season 3?

Well for starters, a fresh slate of cast members has been announced – with a whopping 18 new faces joining season 3. Some notable names include Orange is the New Black’s Natasha Lyonne, Grammy-winning Spanish pop star Rosalia, and Youtube and internet personality Trisha Paytas (yes, you read that right) – we’re definitely seated for what they’re going to bring to the table.

Euphoria Season 3

Hunter Schafer as Jules Vaughn in Euphoria Season 3

HBO Max

Amongst the returning cast members are season regulars Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie, Jacob Elordi, Maude Apatow and Sydney Sweeney who will be reprising their characters. Other cast members like Eric Dane, Martha Kelly, Chloe Cherry, Colman Domingo and Dominic Fike will also be making their return. Much to the dismay of Euphoria fans, beloved show regulars Storm Reid (Zendaya’s on-screen sister, Gia Bennett) and Barbie Ferreira (Kat Hernandez) have announced that they will both not be returning for season 3.

Cast members aside, it’s important to note that Euphoria season 3 features a five-year time jump. That’s right, our favourite East Highland delinquents are no longer in high school anymore, but out in the real world navigating adulthood.

Now, what exactly are each of them up to? We’re definitely hoping for Rue Bennett to continue her journey of sobriety as we were led to believe in the season 2 finale. While the fates of the rest of the characters have only been teased, it’s suspected that Rue’s on-and-off girlfriend Jules Vaughn is in art school, while the infamous Cassie Howard is now involved in the adult industry and engaged to Nate Jacobs – much to everyone’s surprise. The iconic Maddy Perez and Lexi Howard both seem to be working separate jobs in Hollywood.

Euphoria would not be the show it is today without its music – with musical visionary Labrinth helming the show’s soundtrack creation over the past two seasons. And it seems like Sam Levinson is taking it up a notch this time, recruiting Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer for the composition of season 3’s music, alongside existing songwriter Labrinth.
