What: Lady Gaga made her long-awaited return to Singapore for four nights only at National Stadium to celebrate the release of her seventh studio album, Mayhem - 13 years after her last concert here for the Born This Way Ball world tour. The pop star performed over 20 of her smash-hits, from cult classics like Born This Way, Bad Romance and Poker Face to newer singles from the Mayhem album like Abracadabra and Die With A Smile. In total, some 47,000 Little Monsters from all over the region, including stans from Japan, China, the Philippines and more, flew in to catch her only show in Asia.
The vibe: The atmosphere was electric as Gaga kicked off the first night in style, dressed head to toe in an extravagant crimson gown draped like stage curtains over a towering cage-like structure. Dancers burst out from the cage as she surprised the audience with the 2011 banger, Bloody Mary. Her Monsters brought the energy, belting out every lyric and nailing Gaga’s iconic moves.
Halfway through the setlist, Gaga unveiled the national flag from a balcony on-stage, sending love to her fans in Singapore. “I love it here so much,” she said to the crowd with a hand over her heart, adding, “I always build beautiful memories, memories that stay with me all the time.” A few lucky concert-goers by the barricades also got the chance to see the star up-close as she serenaded them with “Vanish Into You”, signing autographs and even throwing a bouquet of black roses to the audience.
Before the show, we met with some stylish Monsters and documented their looks. From spiked accessories reminiscent of Gaga’s performance outfits from her Born This Way era to bold make-up looks featuring multi-chrome glitter, these fits would make Mother Monster proud.
