Mr. Bucket Chocolaterie Is Serving Boujee Chocolate Mooncakes That We Can’t Get Enough Of
Melts in your mouth, double the portion, please.
By Reta Lee CW,
The mooncake season is back, and Mr. Bucket Chocolaterie is totally serving. Forget what you know about traditional mooncakes because their new Harvest Moon Collection is a delightful surprise. These aren’t your typical salted egg yolk mooncakes—they’re handcrafted chocolate ones that are boujee, modern, and the perfect gift to flex on your friends.
We got our hands on the Harvest Moon Set of 4 Mooncakes ($68) that comes with a cute and colourful picnic insulated bag. Inside, each of the mooncakes are individually packed and comes in a mini serving which, honestly, doesn’t count to your calorie uptake, cough. But honestly, they’re too pretty to eat, but someone’s got to.
You could also order a set of 8 mooncakes ($98) — both sets feature four flavours made from bean-to-bar chocolate (sustainably sourced from farms across Asia and applying an artisanal approach to chocolate-making): Honey Osmanthus, Pistachio & Orange, Kinako Mochi, and Chrysanthemum Pomelo.
What I like about the Harvest Moon Set
Blind tasting my way without the notes.
For someone who likes all things zesty and fruity, I generally gravitate towards sweet and not nutty flavours. To exclude personal bias, I decided to blind test all four chocolate mooncakes to find which are the best ones I liked. To my surprise, I actually liked the Pistachio & Orange flavour; there is a light orange hint but it doesn’t overpower the pistachio flavour. My favourites are the light and aromatic Honey Osmanthus and the Chrysanthemum Pomelo.
For the best flavour and freshness, consume your mooncakes within two weeks. Also, make sure to keep them in the refrigerator. They may be frozen up to 1 month, but do defrost in the refrigerator for 24 hours before consumption.
