Debuting In Singapore This December: A Brand New, Female-Fronted Music Festival

Organised by the same people behind Laneway Singapore, this new music festival features a solid line-up of female-fronted acts. Get excited.

If you're one of the many who lamented music festival Laneway's absence this year, take heart: 24OWLS, a new business collective comprising of the good folks responsible for Laneway Singapore's most recent editions, are coming up with a new music series, titled The Alex Blake Charlie Sessions.

The Alex Blake Charlie Sessions is a one-day event is slated to take place December 7, 2019 at Pasir Panjang Power Station. Genres on offer include pop rock,R&B, indie folk, electronica and more: what sets the festival aside is its heavy emphasis on female-fronted acts, both local and international. If we're not mistaken, this represents a first of sorts for Singapore, though female-fronted music festivals are a small but growing movement internationally.

There are eight acts released so far in a first wave announcement (more names to follow), with many making their Singapore debuts - there's Welsh avant-pop songstress Cate Le Bon, who has recently released her critically acclaimed fifth album Reward, American power pop band Charly Bliss, veteran rock group LCD Soundsystem (a joint DJ-showcase by Nancy Whang and Rayna Russom - the ladies of the group),  British post-punk quartet Goat Girl, fast-rising Irish pop artist Soak and the always fun British indie pop band Kero Kero Bonito.

Local acts include DJ, lecturer and artist Ginette Chittick and electro-soul R&B songstress Vandetta - though hopefully more will be included closer to the date, such as bedroom pop ingenue Shye perhaps? Whatever the case, we're pretty confident of 24OWLS' curation - keep checking back for more updates.
