What comes to mind when you think of the early-2000s? Low-rise jeans worn too far low, pop icons at their peak and the moment reality TV fully took over our screens. Few shows bottled this defining pop culture era quite like America’s Next Top Model. Headed by supermodel-turned-fashion-mogul Tyra Banks, the competition aired from 2003 to 2018, offering a glossy, high-pressure fantasy of what it took to make it in fashion.

Aspiring models competed for a career-launching modelling contract, navigating through cutthroat challenges, theatrical eliminations, dramatic (and sometimes controversial) makeovers and the relentless pursuit of “smizing” perfection – not forgetting a catalogue of now-iconic lines that have since taken a life of their own. Equal parts spectacle and cultural reset, the high-stakes modelling competition was wildly entertaining, deeply unhinged at times and undeniably influential.

Nearly a decade since its last episode aired, Netflix is reopening the ANTM archive with a new documentary series, Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model. Here’s everything we know so far about the ANTM docuseries arriving this February 2026.

What can we expect from Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model ?

Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model is a three-part Netflix docuseries diving back into one of the most iconic – and controversial – reality competitions of the 2000s. While the pop culture staple helped define the modern fashion modelling competition, watching it today can feel like going through a time capsule of early-2000s toxic culture: body shaming, questionable contestant treatment, eyebrow-raising photoshoots (remember the race-swapping challenges?) and over-the-top makeovers that sometimes went too far – yes, even a compulsory cosmetic dental procedure that required a contestant to get her teeth shaved for a larger tooth gap.

For the first time in ANTM history, Reality Check will give unprecedented access to both judges and former contestants. Through sit-down interviews and candid confessionals, they unpack the controversies, reflect on their experiences and give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at all 24 cycles – offering both nostalgia and a critical lens on a show whose legacy was as complicated as it was unforgettable.

Who’s starring in the ANTM documentary series on Netflix?

Is it really ANTM without Tyra Banks front and centre? Tyty’s back, joined by co-creator Ken Mok and fan-favourite judges Jay Manuel, Nigel Barker and J. Alexander (aka Miss J). But the doc doesn’t stop at the panel – it also brings former contestants and winners back into the spotlight, including Whitney Thompson, Giselle Samson, Shannon Stewart, Shandi Sullivan, Dani Evans and Keenyah Hill, offering their first-hand perspectives on the drama, glamour and chaos behind the runway.
