Things To Do In Singapore: A Blockbuster Exhibition, A Farmer's Market & More
Our weekly edit of things to check out.
By Keng Yang Shuen,
With the long weekend just ahead, head down to STPI gallery, which will be opening a new exhibition by Thai superstar artist Rirkrit Tiravanija. Over at 66 Kampong Bugis, it's the stage for Kampong Bugis Cosmic Market, a sprawling farmer's market curated by none other than culinary anthropologist Nithiya Laila. More details below.
It's Easter weekend and whether you celebrate it or not, there's a great farmer's market worth checking out. Curated by noted culinary anthropologist Nithiya Laila, the market will feature a slew of locally grown and made produce and products. Shop fresh produce from Singapore's farms and rack up sustainable goods lovingly designed and made by local craftsmen (pictured here is one of our favourite SG accessories label, Objects of Mass Distraction). There will also be a pop-up arts corner showcasing local artists as well as small-batch independent farmers.
The market takes place at the park opposite the industrial building at 66 Kampong Bugis, and all of the building's occupants (wellness studio Palm Avenue Float Club, pizzeria Lucali, multi-use concept space Etta and restaurant Raw Kitchen Bar) will also be participating in the festivities one way or another.

April 8-9, 11am to 6pm, at 66 Kampong Bugis River Green Park
Holistic studio Altered States is putting on their popular Sonic World series once more. It's essentially a meditative experience, though it's also complemented by ambient music and movement classes. The upcoming one this Saturday sees ambient musician Kin Leonn immersing the audience in a live set, and as you listen deeply to the waves of texture, tone, and atmosphere, you’ll alternate between spaces of stillness with intervals of gentle movement courtesy of professional choreographer and veteran movement artist Hafeez Hassan, who will help to guide you to experience the music with deeper presence. If you've been feeling burnt out, this multi-textured experience is one worth looking into.

Get ready for a major new show at STPI Creative Workshop & Gallery. Titled We don’t recognise what we don’t see by internationally renowned Thai artist Rirkrit Tiravanija, the exhibition features some 40 new artworks that explore a very timely topic: themes of extinction, humankind’s destruction of the natural world, and our impending demise as a civilisation.
The show, curated by superstar curator Hans Ulrich Obrist, is a visceral experience provocatively designed to engage the mind and senses, conceived from works created during Tiravanija’s third residency with STPI (over a period from 2019 to 2023). Born from a meditation on the value and treatment of other lifeforms, Tiravanija concluded that humankind’s inconsequential regard for animals and our natural world stems from mankind’s hubris, blinding us to the devastating consequences of the cumulative destruction around us.
April 8-June 2, 10am to 7pm (11am to 5pm on Sundays), at STPI Creative Workshop & Gallery, 41 Robertson Quay
