A New TeamLab Museum Is Opening At Singapore’s Gardens By The Bay
This immersive attraction will be part of new nature space Wetlands by the Bay, which will open in 2028.
Japanese art collective teamLab probably needs no introduction. Their museums in Japan often see entry queues, and they’ve since brought their multimedia installations to multiple cities across the world, including Singapore. We have Future World at ArtScience Museum, Digital Light Canvas at Marina Bay Sands, and previously, Story of the Forest at the National Museum’s glass rotunda. But one thing’s missing: A dedicated teamLab Museum like the ones in Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, and even Jeddah and Abu Dhabi.
Our prayers have since been answered. Singapore is finally getting its own flagship teamLab museum, as part of a wider nature attraction at Gardens by the Bay, called Wetlands by the Bay. This exciting news comes shortly after the opening of IMBA Theatre and Exploria, both of which similarly utilise colourful projections and animations to create interactive experiences where art and tech collide.
According to a spokesperson from Gardens by the Bay, Singapore’s upcoming teamLab museum will have both indoor and outdoor area to explore. One major highlight? A pedal kayaking experience where participants can glide along on the waters – a groundbreaking first for teamLab. In true teamLab fashion, we expect this to come with sensory surprises instead of being a mere boat ride. Few other details of the teamLab museum have been revealed thus far, but based on the artist’s impressions, – as well as the location and teamLab’s love for botanicals – there will be plenty of nature elements.
As for Wetlands by the Bay itself – a new event lawn, an expansion of the Kingfisher Wetlands, and new F&B outlets are in the works. There will also be a new boardwalk directly connecting Gardens by the Bay’s main entrance and Gardens by the Bay MRT station for easier access.
Wetlands by the Bay, along with Singapore’s new teamLab museum, will be opening at Gardens by the Bay from 2028. Earlier on the horizon is a new bridge linking the Bay East Garden and Bay South Garden, slated for opening in 2027. Stay tuned for more details in time to come.
