There's A Hip Flea Market Happening At Tanjong Pagar Railway Station On Good Friday

The defunct Tanjong Pagar Railway Station will house a one-day-only flea market this Friday, 25 March. Here's what you can expect.

Creative collective The Local People's flea markets have become a mainstay in the Singapore event calendar. But this time round, they're taking things up a notch by holding it in one historic location: the Tanjong Pagar Railway Station, which ceased operations five years ago.

Like in previous editions, the market will dedicate an area where local musicians can perform, and this Friday will see pop and rock bands crooning nostalgic '90s tunes onstage. The cavernous indoor space will be turned into a movie theatre, while the former train platform will see pop-up booths hawking everything from handmade stationery to local bakeries. And once dusk hits, stick around for digital art installations that will be projected onto the disused train tracks.

If all that isn't enough of a draw, here's another compelling reason to head down: The chance to pay it forward, by donating edible goods (rice, cooking oil, biscuits amongst them) to the flea market's adopted charity Food From The Heart.
