We're two weekends away from Christmas and this week sees plenty of festive markets to hit up; in fact, we'd say the hard thing would be to choose which to go for - we've selected some of the best to check out below.

DO GOOD WHILE YOU PARTY

Intervention
1/5

You'll never know what to expect at an Intervention party (the irreverent queer-centric series started by filmmaker Daniel Hui, artist Irfan Kasban, playwright Joel Tan, events planner Mathias Posch and The Observatory percussionist Cheryl Ong). Previous editions have seen anything from reggae to pop thrown into the blend, as well as trippy art visuals and performance art-esque processions, as well as a good dose of silliness. Intervention is back for a fourth edition, this time at the newly opened Golden Village x The Projector space at Cineleisure, and the organisers are also holding a small art sale - the proceeds of which will go to emergency aid initiatives in Gaza - come through.
Get your tickets here.
Dec 9, from 10.30pm till late, at Projector X: No Spoilers Bar, #05-03 Cineleisure, 8 Grange Road

DO GOOD WHILE YOU SHOP

Field Pottery
2/5

Singapore ceramic studio Field Pottery has teamed up with Instagram account @homesteadylah to put on a charity sale/clothing exchange held in an attic in a Joo Chiat house - there'll be new and secondhand items, including clothing, books, homewares, footwear and more. They're operating on a pay-as-you-wish model, with all proceeds going to one of three charities (Anera for Vulnerable Communities in Palestine, Lebanon & Jordan; OSCAS Dog Shelter and Care for the Elderly Foundation Singapore).

Dec 9 (11am - 5pm) and Dec 10, (11am - 7pm) at an undisclosed location in Joo Chiat - register here to get the details

SUPPORT LOCAL CREATIVES WHILE YOU SHOP: PART ONE

Aaah House
3/5

Aaah House is one of our favourite stores that opened this year - if you're not familiar with them, they're among the new wave of stores here specialising in design and art objects made by local and regional creatives. This weekend, they're transforming Tiong Bahru into an enclave where more than a dozen Singapore creatives will be showcasing their wares (books, small objects, zines, prints, tableware and more) - it might just possibly be one of the best spots this weekend to get that quirky, one-of-a-kind gift.

Dec 9 - 10, 11am - 7pm, at Aaah House, 1M Yong Siak Street

SUPPORT LOCAL CREATIVES WHILE YOU SHOP: PART TWO

Marie Toh @flesssh
4/5

If you've been meaning to check out the newly rejuvenated Peace Center, this weekend is a good time to do so: stylish vintage object purveyor Curios Obscura is also putting on its own Christmas market in the mall, featuring the works of 14 local illustrators (pictured above, illustrator Marie Toh's work), artists and small business owners. There are art prints, publications, zines, handmade ceramics, vintage homeware and jewellery, handmade garments, and more to be had - many items are handmade and available only in small quantities, so act quickly.

Dec 9 - 10, 11am - 7pm, at Cereal Bowl, #01-36 Peace Center, 1 Sophia Road

SUPPORT LOCAL CREATIVES WHILE YOU SHOP: PART THREE

Bobby Luo
5/5

Nightlife impresario Bobby Luo's events are always a colourful riot, and his festive market staged at his cult SuperFreak boutique will continue that line. Expect assorted homeware, vintage clothes, upcycled goodies, live portrait painting, crystals, stickers prints, badges, handmade thingamjigs from a variety of local fashion designers, club kids, and artists.
