All The Stars at the 78th Cannes Film Festival
From Angelina Jolie to Kim Go Eun and Nana Komatsu, the red carpet at Cannes 2025 was stacked with star power—and even better outfits.
For anyone who loves red carpet watching, the annual Cannes Film Festival always provides one of the best opportunities in the year to ogle extra-extravagant looks over the course of a week or so. This year's edition, the 78th, saw quite the sartorial controversy unfold when the organisers suddenly announced new dress codes (no nudity and voluminous outfits) for the reasons of "decency" and to facilitate smoother seating arrangements within the cinema theatre, just a day before the festival kicked off.
Some speculated that may be why the red carpet looks felt more muted this year as compared to previous editions, where stars have increasingly taken to naked gowns and XL trains in a bid to claim the spotlight. That said, the star wattage remains substantial, with major A-listers like Angelina Jolie, Emma Stone, Jennifer Lawrence all pulling up to plug their latest films - alongside a surprise appearance by Rihanna, who turned up in a sky-blue Alaia number to support her husband A$AP Rocky, who stars in the new Spike Lee flick Highest 2 Lowest.
