Whether he is strolling into court for his latest legal battle or navigating a swarm of paparazzi eager to capture his every move, one thing remains constant at A$AP Rocky’s side. And then, of course, there’s Rihanna.

Jokes aside, A$AP Rocky is the undisputed king of effortlessly cool eyewear. Now, he is putting his credentials to the test as the first-ever creative director for eyewear giant Ray-Ban. His designs will be released under Ray-Ban Studios, the brand’s creative platform launched in 2011 to celebrate the power of music and the stories of bold, boundary-pushing artists.

He kicks off his appointment with the Blacked Out Collection, a reimagining of Ray-Ban’s Mega Icons featuring gold-plated details and ultra-black lenses, set for release this April.

Ray-Ban President, Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio, said of A$AP Rocky: "He’s a visionary artist and creator. His ability to push the boundaries of the diverse worlds he explores, aligns with the Ray-Ban DNA. We are reinforcing the brand's values of innovation, pioneering spirit, and courage."

“I’ve always admired Ray-Ban’s ability to stay true to its roots while constantly evolving,” said A$AP Rocky. “I’m excited to be part of this strong heritage and help shape the next chapter for such an iconic brand.”

The rapper's role extends far beyond eyewear design – he’ll also direct campaigns, revamp Ray-Ban stores, and infuse music, fashion, and the arts into the brand’s DNA.

A$AP Rocky’s appointment reinforces Ray-Ban’s legacy as a cultural icon. For nearly 80 years, the brand has graced the faces of legendary musicians, artists, actors, and icons. His new role also underscores the growing influence of celebrities in shaping the creative direction of global fashion houses, following in the footsteps of figures like the late Virgil Abloh and Pharrell Williams at Louis Vuitton, and even street style star and former editor Giovanna Battaglia Engelbert at Swarovski.
