The Future Archival Gems From Balenciaga’s Fall Winter 2025 Collection
One last hurrah for Demna at Balenciaga.
By Noelle Loh,
This season’s Balenciaga collection is built on the idea of giving standard dress codes a fashion-forward twist. It couldn’t be more fitting, considering how it encapsulates much of what Demna (who has since been announced as the new artistic director of Gucci) has been doing during his decade-long tenure at the house: making the mundane magical – and injecting some much-needed mirth into the process of dressing up. Here are some pieces destined for archival gold.
A faux-fur coat with an exaggerated high collar and A-line silhouette, paying tribute to the original Cristobal Balenciaga.
The Avenue After pumps in nude — so minimalist they look barely there.
A ruched denim jacket and midi skirt — everyday pieces, but make them couture.
The Le City handbag with an unexpected shearling trim.
The Rodeo – another iconic handbag by Demna – given an ultra-sensorial makeover in waxed suede calfskin.
The closing look on the runway, a dramatic maxi-length nylon puffer coat with a belted waist.
A jersey hoodie dress reimagined with a couture-inspired cut.
The Tucked-In dress, featuring deliberately ill-fitting shoulder pads and an asymmetrical neckline designed to evoke a wardrobe malfunction.
The Godet midi coat – corporate wear à la Demna.
The Purse drawstring bag, inspired by ancient coin purses (no, it’s not a dust bag).
The Hamptons, a sneaker drawing from the world of skateboarding and set to become the brand’s next “It” shoe.
The Back-to-Front knit top, which can be worn conventionally or – as its name suggests – back to front.
