Ranging from the gimmicky to the ones worth their hype, fashion collaborations these days are a dime a dozen. But one that has withstood the test of time in generating global buzz is the annual big-name designer collaboration with H&M. This year, the Swedish retailer joined forces with cult-favourite luxury label Mugler for an exclusive collection of womenswear and menswear. The outing hits stores on May 11.
The collection consists of fan-favourite runway looks by Mugler’s creative director Casey Cadwallader, as well as the revival of iconic archival works by the luxury label’s late eponymous founder Thierry Mugler –including a rendition of the designer’s Fall/Winter ’91 black velvet dress as worn by Alexa Demie in the hit HBO series Euphoria.

Of this latest collaboration, the Mugler H&M collection was described as one that is “defined by the irrepressibility of Mugler’s energy; flamboyant, playful, body-positive, youthful, and open to the many facets of each individual wearer’s identity.
