On weekdays, we roleplay as office girlies, and our bags are chosen partly based on utility (bulky laptops lugged to and fro, anyone?) But on weekends, we let loose, dress up more freely, and our arm candy gets a little more fun as well.

What sort of bags are go-tos in a fashion media team’s weekend rotation? If you’ve ever wondered, here’s a little peek into our bag collections, with picks from trendy K-fashion labels to Japanese brands and a local social enterprise supporting women.

TEAM F ZINE’S FAVOURITE WEEKEND BAGS

1. Purnama mini tote

“This compact bag from local brand Purnama – part of the Pokhara Collection featuring handwoven items by Nepali women under a skill development program – is the perfect size for my sunglasses, umbrella, CD player and headphones when I’m out and about on days off. It was purchased at least 10 to 12 years ago, but remains durable with a good-as-new condition. I often pile my weekend groceries of fruits and tubs of yogurt in it.” – Jonathan Chia, Senior Art Director

2. Hieta handbag in Iris/Powder Pink

“I’ve been following this Korean brand for a while now, and when they dropped this bag (KRW88,000, slightly under ~S$88) as part of their Spring 2026 collection, I knew I had to get it! It’s in the prettiest shade of pink, and the lace details go so well with my outfits. It’s now become my go-to for weekend hangouts, though it can’t fit much. But I mean, that’s what my hands are for…@girlscarryingshit” – Germaine Khoo, Social Media Producer

3. Aeta braided shopper

“I picked up this simple little shopper from the Japanese brand Aeta when I was in Kyoto earlier this year. It’s made from braided paper yarn and I really enjoy that tactile, rustic quality.” – Carlos Keng, Senior Features Editor

4. Samantha Vega Little Twin Stars Flutter bag

“It was love at first sight when I chanced upon this limited-edition Samantha Vega x Sanrio handbag in Japan – easiest JPY27,500 (~S$225) ever spent. It’s not bulky, but it’s roomy enough for must-haves like my makeup pouch, water bottle, and brolly. The Little Twin Stars theme is brought out subtly through starry embellishments, a faint pink-blue gradient tint, and an inner lining featuring the characters. Plus, those frilly details at the sides? Too darn cute. While this particular model from 2023 is no longer available for purchase, the brand regularly doles out equally pretty, bling-laden designs, so it’s definitely possible to get something with similar vibes from their current range.” – Rachel Yohannan, Digital Editor

5. Avavav x Eastpak belt bag

“I get why people are averse to belt bags, but you can’t be mad at this one. Its three little Eastpak backpacks turned into pouches and compartments by the genius of Avavav’s subversive design – it can’t get any cleverer than that. It’s the perfect size to fit all my essentials for the weekend, including a water bottle. I bought it from Club21 for $200, and it was originally supposed to be my gym bag, but ended up being so much more. Happy accident, no?” – Pang Jia Wei, Content Producer

6. Dear Alien Gracie tote bag

“Call it fate, but I saw a really cool girl carrying this bag at the airport, became immediately obsessed, and somehow she ended up sitting next to me on my flight. Thankfully, she didn’t gatekeep and told me where she got it from: Dear Alien, a Chinese brand. I’m truly a sucker for a massive everyday carryall, so the tote is basically perfect. Roomy, practical and with a giant Blythe doll face plastered across both sides, there’s really not much more I could want in a bag.” – Gabrielle Anderson, Contributing Writer
