At Celine, being bathed in glorious sun is in. The Parisian house’s Spring Summer 2023 collection, titled La Collection de Saint Tropez, is getting a follow up of sorts with a summer capsule. Dubbed Plein Soleil, this collection goes even deeper into the allure of the year’s sunniest months.

Of course for Celine, that’s all about imagining the ne plus ultra of a Parisienne heading to her summer vacay. For creative director Hedi Slimane, that’s a combination of Saint-Germain-des-Pres nonchalance and French riviera chic. That combination of city and seaside is rendered in the Plein Soleil collection as twists on Celine classics. Think raffia, wicker, Japanese indigo and striped textile fabrics used to craft its signature styles like the Triomphe bag line.

Celine has mastered the art of summer chic.

The daytime styles are suitably beachy. There’s a major silk poplin boyfriend shirt that’s perfect for wearing over bikini sets, and a smorgasbord of accessories to match. For the evening, it’s a more laid back vision of cool-girl glamour: loose and easy separates, with occasional sequin embroidery should you need something dressier.

And for Plein Soleil, Celine has really gone big with introducing summer accoutrements. There’s a new hobo bag in raffia emblazoned with a leather Triomphe patch; hand-woven wicker box bag; a range of espadrilles and sandals; and even lifestyle and furniture pieces from a line called Celine Maison Art de Vivre. That last one includes designs like a deck chair, hammock, beach stool, beach racquets, and a petanque set. How’s that for some fun in the sun?
