By NOELLE LOH,
This ad-hoc event is the sale fashion fiends and industry insiders wait for: past seasons' items from practically the whole roster of brands under Singapore's most progressive luxury multi-label distributor/retailer Club 21 going for up to 80 per cent off.
The latest edition takes place for the first time at the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre Exhibition Hall C (it's the hall at the end on the ground floor) July 7-9, which also means it's the biggest we've seen. (Previous editions in recent years were held at the F1 pit building.)
Spanning women's, men's and kid's, everything in the expansive hall is categorised according to brand, and then accessories, and as usual, no fitting rooms; no big bags allowed; and expect queues: to enter, to pay up (and from our experience, to get into the Comme des Garcons section). But all the hassle is worth it.
This is the place where I've scored countless of memorable runway pieces - from Dries Van Noten, from Marni, from Jil Sander when it was still under Raf Simons. Which is also my number one tip when hitting this sale: you're going to get the most out of it shopping from Club 21's top tier labels.
The Female team and I got a preview on Thursday, the day before it opens to public, and here's what I singled out: key, distinctive looks (seriously, you can get a white shirt anywhere) that are as high on collector's/keepsake value as they are on fashion wear and longevity.
And if you're wondering, "Uhm, if you've already nabbed them, what's left for me?", fret not. Stocks are replenished daily.
Ready?
