As Fashion Week takes over our calendars, the industry finds itself at a crossroads. The cyclical churn of creative directors – like Gucci’s Milan show without Sabato de Sarno and Veronica Leoni’s new role at Calvin Klein Collection – shows that brand shifts aren’t the only drivers of fashion’s future. In a world where consumer demands, conscious luxury, and the decline of online retail giants intersect, emerging designers are more pivotal than ever.

Today’s young labels are carving their own paths, challenging traditional cycles and reshaping how we engage with fashion in a digital, sustainability-driven landscape. Let’s dive into 17 exciting new names, each pushing boundaries and redefining the fashion of tomorrow.

GYOUREE KIM

Gyouree Kim

Founded in: 2023

Based in: London and Seoul

What to know: After moving to the United Kingdom in 2018 and graduating from Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art, Gyouree Kim, the South Korean-born designer behind the brand, gained experience at Alexander McQueen, before establishing her womenswear label. Blending historical silhouettes with contemporary aesthetics, craftsmanship, and a sustainable ethos, its designs feature soft frills, feminine shapes, and intricate corsetry.

The latest Spring Summer 2025 collection draws inspiration from unearthly cherubs, mythical winged beings. Expect dramatic yet delicate silhouettes – see-through lacy tights, crinolines with ruffles, exaggerated hips, and flowing fabrics in muted shades of cream, white, and gold. Shoes and headpieces also make a bold statement, from extra-long pointy heels to laced-up squared-toe mules for everyday wear.

SUNG JU

Sung Ju

Founded in: 2022

Based in: Seoul

What to know: With a background in architecture, designer Sung Ju Lee founded his namesake brand after discovering parallels between architecture and fashion. With the motto “Reinterpreting Nostalgia,” his collections are primarily informed and inspired by cultural values and his personal journey. However, his architectural background is still evident, with the pieces being notably sculptural, playing with volumes, shapes, structure, and colours. His latest collection draws inspiration from the Korean melon (‘Chamwoe’), which shares the designer’s childhood nickname – a term that was often used to tease him.

PARKER ZINN

Founded in: 2024

Based in: New York

What to know: After graduating from Parsons School of Fashion in May of last year, North Carolina native Parker Zinn immediately established her knitwear brand. Zinn’s background as a Carolinian resonates throughout her collection, all of which are hand-knitted and labour-intensive, with yarn and fibre sourced from farms in New York and her hometown – adding a personal sentiment to each piece.

Describing her work as “an elevation of Southern kitsch,” Zinn’s knitwear stands apart. Her thesis collection, The Long, Delirious, Burning Blue, inspired by Chapel Hill and its people, features chunky cashmere overalls, oversized cable-knit gowns, and intricate beadwork that initially appears graphic –until you take a closer look. Her vision for sculptural, funky knits, combined with her unique techniques, skills, and storytelling, makes Parker Zinn a truly distinctive and sentimental brand.

HENGDI WANG

Hengdi Wang

Founded in: 2023

Based in: London and Shanghai

What to know: During his master’s studies, Chinese designer Hengdi Wang founded his couture brand and launched his first jewellery collection in London. Wang’s designs feature cyberfuturistic elements, blending concepts of biomechanics and botanical minds through innovative 3D virtual fashion and techniques – think nature meets robotic accessories that belong in a sci-fi movie.

His Spring Summer 2025 collection, titled Cybernetics Blooming Inside of Me, imagines life taking form after being alienated by technology, drawing inspiration from the bio-mechanical art of H.R. Giger, notably his designs for Alien and Species. The collection presents bold and avant-garde pieces, swinging from posthumanism to soft lustrous designs, such as metallic exoskeleton armour, face-hugger-inspired accessories, floral lace bodysuits with tulle leg warmers (which look as if the human body is being consumed by nature), and a body-hugging dress with a crumpled effect that mimics a spine. All of these pieces showcase his craftsmanship skills and versatility as a designer.

Wang’s designs also serve as a commentary on overconsumption. As he explains, “I aim to prompt reflection on the balance between technological advancement, nature, and the consequences of unchecked exploitation.”

CELINE KWAN

Celine Kwan

Founded in: 2022

Based in: London and Hong Kong

What to know: With remarkable experience and prestigious awards under her belt, such as working at Viktor & Rolf (where the techniques and craftsmanship she learned continue to influence her brand today) and earning a Top 10 spot among Asian Designers within just six months, Celine Kwan’s brand has garnered attention in a short span of time – rightfully so. A Hong Kong native who moved to London at the age of 12, Kwan explains that her diverse upbringing – from a love of British sitcoms and art to her mother’s timeless elegance – shapes her as a designer.

This influence is evident in her designs, which are playful, humorous, and never shy away from colour or hand-drawn graphics. In addition, she is driven by core values such as ethical manufacturing and her aspiration to empower Asian female designers. Expect fun, tongue-in-cheek elements, balloon-like inflated silhouettes, and experimental shapes, all of which have become signatures of the brand.

Her latest collection, a tribute to her younger self, deeply influenced by Japan’s kawaii aesthetics and the Tumblr era, sees a more toned-down silhouette – though not to be mistaken for boring or any less fun. It strikes a balance between goth and kawaii aesthetics, featuring hoodies with oversized bow ties, colourful tights, spiky headgear, and even a cheeky shirt that says “I am not cute,” adding a touch of colour and fun to your everyday wardrobe.

KASIA KUCHARSKA

Founded in: 2021

Based in: Berlin

What to know: The brand, founded by the designer of the same name, Kasia Kucharska, reinvents the traditional lace-making craft in an innovatively beautiful and funky way by using 3D printing techniques and liquid latex. This is what the designer calls “lazy lace” – latex scribbled to create web-like garments that resemble lace, such as tights, bodysuits, floor-length dresses, and sometimes incorporating them with cotton shirts and other materials.

Consider her latest collection, which was presented in her first-ever fashion show, her boldest yet. It masterfully combines latex with knitwear and ruffles, using this technique to create unique accessories such as bags and hats.

VEL DON SA LIM

Founded in: 2022

Based in: London

What to know: Indonesian-born Veldon Salim founded his eponymous brand after graduating from Central Saint Martins. Though knitwear is famously synonymous with comfort and sweaters, Salim breaks these conventions with his intricate geometrical knitwear that celebrates hyper-femininity and sensuality. Taking inspiration from traditional methods of wrapping, knotting, and tying a sarong, Salim applies these techniques cleverly to his designs, which are contemporary, delicate, and feminine – each piece draped, twisted, and layered beautifully in refreshing pastel hues.

LOUIS SHENGTAO CHEN

Founded in: 2021

Based in: London

What to know: Louis Shengtao Chen founded his eponymous brand during the pandemic, when he was unable to travel or secure jobs at big-name labels. The brand is ready-to-wear, but there is no denying the hint of avant-garde and glamour in its designs. Chen’s works are feminine, theatrical, and told through cinematic storytelling. Through his body of designs, he aims to redefine and challenge the notion of luxury in ready-to-wear. He does this by combining unconventional fabrics in the world of luxury, such as incorporating denim and transforming it into dramatic pieces, creating otherworldly, beautiful, and surreal designs.

For his Spring Summer 2025 collection, titled Echos in the Fog, Chen explores the paradox of beauty and confinement. He achieves this by juxtaposing the softness of his silhouettes and colour palette with bold structures and a hint of black. Among the highlights are the floral-decorated hoodie, embroidered dresses, and tailored trousers with lace.

YA YI STUDIO

Founded in: 2022

Based in: New York

What to know: Founded by Chinese designer Yayi Chen Zhou, Ya Yi Studio draws inspiration from the designer’s multicultural background, spanning from her hometown in China to Spain and New York. Previously working at Thom Browne and The Row, Chen Zhou established her brand to explore the challenges of being an immigrant woman through fashion. It is through her namesake brand that she became a semi-finalist at the 2024 LVMH Prize.

Her works blend her Chinese and Spanish heritage with a New York lens, giving her designs a contemporary flair. Subtle elements of traditional wear are reinterpreted into modern formalwear, such as flamenco fringes or Spanish mantilla draped as a blouse. The feminine form is accentuated in her designs through simple yet elegant, and at times dark and romantic, silhouettes featuring symbolic flowers and Chinese elements.

Her latest collection, Silent Threads, introduces simpler fabrics elevated through silhouettes, such as linen fringed skirts, finely knitted tops, and a papier-mâché dress adorned with 80 hand-crafted flowers made from deadstock fabric.

JOYCE BAO

Founded in: 2022

Based in: London

What to know: Having previously worked at The Row, Calvin Klein, Coach, and Vaquera, the Asian-American designer is one to watch. Joyce Bao recently made her debut at Shanghai Fashion Week through the brand Labelhood, where she presented elements from her graduate collection that tell her story as an immigrant in the West. The pieces blend her dual heritage and incorporate vintage elements from her own wardrobe, such as a hand-tufted top with lace print on fleece taken from vintage curtains, soft armour-like pieces in red, and Chinese design elements. Through this, she aims to celebrate and empower women by embracing both the fragility and strength of femininity.

TORISHEJU

Founded in: 2023

Based in: London

What to know: Torisheju has had an impressive run – its debut show for Paris Fashion Week was held at Shangri-La, with Naomi Campbell opening the show. Following this, the brand was commissioned to create a custom dress for Zendaya, and just a year after its debut, it is stocked at Dover Street Market globally.

The Nigerian-Brazilian designer behind the brand, Torisheju Dumi, is a menswear graduate from London College of Fashion and earned a Master’s degree from Central Saint Martins. Her academic background equipped her with sharp tailoring and avant-garde skills, which she translates into her brand. However, it is her cultural background and childhood that shape her as a designer.

Her masterful wrapping, draping, and understanding of proportions result in abstract and unusual garments with subtle elegance. Beyond the aesthetics, Dumi places a strong emphasis on sustainability, using deadstock materials and a made-to-order process. Her latest collection, La Nef Des Fous, imagines a sinking ship and features slightly more refined and sophisticated looks. Evening dresses are crinkled, while pink and black suits are paired with bloomers. Slim silhouettes expand at the bottom, stuffed with fabric scraps, unfinished hems, and fringes that mimic the state of frenzy and panic. Some pieces appear undone and slightly chaotic, but all are intentional.

WACKIE JU

Founded in: 2020

Based in: Melbourne

What to know: Founded by Beijing-born designer Jackie Wu, the brand revolves around social politics and is informed by Wu’s identity as a trans, queer, Chinese designer. Wu's motto is "Nothing in this world is not non-binary," emphasising clothes that are meant to be worn by everyone. In its works, Wu blends the East and West, taking components from traditional wear and reimagining them with modern craftsmanship. Themes draw inspiration from Wu’s upbringing in China, like the brand’s latest collection, “Saviour,” which reflects on their memories of Yuanmingyuan, the Old Summer Palace of Beijing, and serves as a commentary on the saviour complex. The traditional Chinese Zhongshan suit is re-contextualised in tailored silver wool, paired with a pant suit that flows at the bottom, while a suit inspired by traditional Qing dynasty silhouettes features an elongated castle-like neck that covers half of the face. Additionally, a deconstructed upcycled Mongolian wool shearling gown pays tribute to Wu’s late grandfather. Wu’s body of work is rich in cultural references, yet the pieces are highly modern, some bordering on futuristic, and utterly relevant.

MARINA EERRIE

Marina Eerrie

What to know: Upon studying law, designer Marina decided to pivot to fashion, having realised she wanted to pursue something more creative. Prior to creating her own brand, Marina gained experience in London-based fashion houses such as Alexander McQueen, Self-Portrait, and 16Arlington. Gothic and eerily beautiful would best describe her works at Marina Eerrie. Its silhouettes are often feminine, seductive, and sophisticated, with body-sculpting dresses, bustiers, and layered soft pieces that shape the aesthetics of the brand. Its newest collection draws inspiration from imagery and music that evokes different emotions in the designer’s mind while designing, stitching, and making. In the end, each garment encapsulates the essence of the songs, from light melodies to darker beats, angelic yet hauntingly beautiful. All pieces are ethically made by artisans in the studio.

JIYONGKIM

JiyongKim

Founded in: 2021

Based in: Seoul

What to know: In an industry where fast pace and uniformity prevail, JiyongKim embraces the exact opposite. The LVMH Prize-nominated designer, Jiyong Kim, aims to change the perspective around imperfection and discarded materials, and he is doing so in unexpected ways. Sustainability and innovative practices form the brand’s aesthetic, with innovation lying just outside the designer's door. Utilising a sun-bleaching technique, JiyongKim creates one-of-a-kind pieces, each unique in its own right and highly dependent on nature and its environment. This technique is what makes it a slow-fashion brand, a term that by now feels decorative, but for Kim’s brand, "slow" reflects the very nature of its making process. Each piece is made with scrapped fabric, reconstructing vintage textiles and hardware into technical everyday wear, such as jackets, trousers, denim, and knitwear with sun-faded effects, further enhanced with drapery and tailoring.
