Viral internet aesthetics, such as the office siren and the mob wife look, receive a runway upgrade

Congratulations, you've made it past another chock-full show calendar and celebrity-packed Fashion Week for the Fall/Winter 2024 season. We witnessed some major flexes, from Nicolas Ghesquiere celebrating a decade of glam with Louis Vuitton to the sizzling debuts of Sean McGirr at Alexander McQueen and Adrian Appiolaza at Moschino. Not to forget the reunion of 2000s supermodels from the 2000s like Lily Donaldson and Edie Campbell, strutting their stuff at brands like Burberry and Max Mara. That aside, the clothes are always the main event, and ahead, we've sussed out the main themes we are hyped for when the Fall/Winter 2024 season swings around.
Skinny jeans, the unsung Y2K hero, are staging a triumphant comeback on the Fall/Winter 2024 runways. To some, it might be the "abomination" of denim, but this silhouette is fearlessly reclaiming its status as the must-have It jeans. See it brands such as Miu Miu, Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, and Helmut Lang. Naysayers, care to share your fashionable rebuttal?

Meet the rebellious cousin of the "clean girl aesthetic". Drawing inspiration from the glamorous partners of the protagonists from iconic movies and TV series like The Godfather, Goodfellas, and The Sopranos. To channel the bold elegance of this trending vibe, grab some fuzzy outerwear and hats a la Diesel, Dolce & Gabbana, and Burberry. Alternatively, rock a serious sleek all-black ensemble with matching gloves and sunglasses, and channel the style mavens at Miu Miu.

The corporate girls are back in business. First spotted on Miu Miu's Fall/Winter 2023 runway and championed by celebrities like Bella Hadid, alongside a resurgence of 1990s archival fashion, this trend has taken over fashion and beauty TikTok today. For Fall/Winter 2024, the sensual aesthetic reaches new heights, transforming workwear silhouettes at Sportmax, Bally, Courreges, and Ottolinger.

Originally reserved for the grunge-chic look of the 1990s and later adopted by hipsters in the early 2010s, the red flannel is finally having its moment once again in luxury fashion. The checked motif is elevated from its weathered shirt appearance to classier ensembles, as see at Yohji Yamamoto, Loewe, Rave Review, and Vivienne Westwood.

Hyper-feminine dressing isn't going anywhere this year, and neither are the ribbons and bows. Made popular for the TikTok generation by brands like Sandy Liang and Simone Rocha, this aesthetic is expected to continue dominating the fashion scene for the rest of the year. For a full-blown take on the coquettish element, check out Prada's pink number and Coach's mega bow skirt. Alternatively, you can opt for a subtle accessory, as seen at Thom Browne and Chanel.

Several experimental brands are giving objects are second life. Rave Review and Conner Ives are upcycling secondhand materials; the latter even used old Apple headphones to create a white dress. Additionally, Hodakova and Balenciaga are crafting looks that serve a dual purpose, functioning as both an outfit and a bag.

Who said sheer fabrics were just for sunshine and daisies? Designers are rewriting the rules for Fall/Winter 2024. Check out Chloe and Valentino for lacey goodness, and Saint Laurent's skin-tight stunner sheer stocking fits. Need a bit more warmth? No worries – throw on a coat like a fashion magician, just as Ferragamo does it.

While luxury fashion takes a more serious turn this year, there are still pockets of fun waiting to be discovered, especially with this season's novel bag designs. Picture Fendi's lollipop holder, a loaf of bread that doubles as a bag at Moschino, Prada's arm cuffs with attached handbags, and Collina Strada's genius bag designed to snugly fit a dumbbell of a specific size. Who said fashion can't be functional and a bit whimsical at the same time?

Say goodbye to the winter layering struggle, thanks to sculptural tops swooping in. Proportions at the top are stealing the spotlight on the runway, flaunting masterpieces from the likes of Duran Lantink, Bottega Veneta, Alexander McQueen, and Loewe.

No winter wardrobe is complete without a killer pair of boots and the footwear game is getting a leg up for Fall/Winter 2024. Picture boots reaching above the knee and beyond, strutting their stuff in styles like Sacai, Gucci, Bally, and Ferragamo. Statement much?
