Dragonite Pokemon Makes An Appearance In The New Friends Of Fendi Project
It's time for the second edition of Friends of Fendi, and for this sophomore outing, the Italian house turns to the Godfather of Streetwear to lead the way.
By FEMALE Staff,
In the realm of pop culture and fashion, Hiroshi Fujiwara of Fragment Design is a rare Pokemon. He has mentored influential Japanese designers like Jun Takahashi of Undercover and Nigo, earning him the moniker "Godfather of Streetwear."
That could also explain his selection for the latest instalment of Friends of Fendi. Conceived by the house’s creative directors Kim Jones and Silvia Venturini Fendi, this series began with Italian fashion guru Stefano Pilati last November. For his turn, Fujiwara created two collections: one exclusively between Fragment Design and Fendi, and another involving Fragment Design, Fendi, and Pokemon. Both lines – now available in stores – span apparel, accessories, and bags like the Peekaboo and Baguette.

The Fendi x FRGMT line reinterprets Hiroshi’s FRGMT logo on the iconic FF jacquard logo in Fendi's institutional brown and tobacco shade and an unexpected bold yellow version.
Yet, Fujiwara isn’t just a Streetwear Renaissance Man; he’s also a passionate collector of pop cultural treasures and iconography. His 2009 book, Personal Effects: Hiroshi Fujiwara, serves as his backstage pass, and he auctioned off his curated gems at Sotheby's last July. This may explain his affinity for Pokemon.
The Fendi x FRGMT x Pokemon pieces feature motifs of the powerful creature, Dragonite. It's a whimsical blend of Fendi designs with the monster, arriving just in time for those seeking alternative ways to inject dragon motifs into their outfits for the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations.
