With fashion media's persistent coverage of Princess Diana's outfits, chances are, you've probably seen that picture of Diana, fresh from the gym, rummaging through a Gucci bamboo-handle tote.
The Bamboo tote debuted in 1991 and has been refreshed for 2021.

It's not hard to see the bag was a hit with her – the Gucci Diana is a pretty fuss-free design with its roomy proportions that are complemented by the house's trademark bamboo handles. You know, the perfect workhorse bag that accompanies you to work – or to the gym, as Diana amply demonstrated in the '90s.
The Gucci Diana comes with bands to maintain the shape of the bamboo handle.
Fast forward three decades and Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele has revived this classic style – only 2021's version now comes in three sizes: medium, small and mini, and available in seven colours (for now), namely black, white, cuir (off-white), a rich emerald green, teal, red and dusky pink.
Of course, we also have to talk about that peculiar band strapped around the handles – they're a cute nod to the bands that came with the original (their purpose was to maintain the shape of the bamboo handle).
Fun fact: while bamboo has now become synonymous with Gucci's bags, the maison was one of the first to start using the material back in the '40s and patented a method to heat and bend the bamboo and render it functional.
2021's Bamboo tote now comes in three sizes: medium, small and mini.
Every Gucci Diana comes with three of these bands (available in hot pink, yellow and orange), though you can also detach them, if they're not your cup of tea.
