Gucci Tells A Colourful Summer Story
Cheerful pastel hues are aplenty in Gucci Summer Stories, the Italian luxury brand’s summer capsule collection.

Exploration and escape are at the heart of Gucci’s high summer offering, a line the brand dubs ‘Summer Stories’. With a campaign film set to the almost wistful abandon of The Strokes, this collection is all about warm days and long nights spent making memories. And while the Italian luxury brand awaits the debut of its incumbent creative director Sabato De Sarno who'll be making his runway debut at Milan Fashion Week in Sept, it is in the meantime going all in on its house signatures.
The Gucci Summer Stories collection spans the ready-to-wear, swimwear, bags, shoes, hats and travel categories. Most of it is vibrantly coloured to capture the spirit of summer warmth. Think silks and cottons printed with bold stripes and playful florals, cut in poolside styles like sheer kaftans and crop tops. That spirit of sunny shades also extends to the accessories: totes come with playful pompoms that add a touch of fun, while classics like the Jackie 1961, Horsebit 1955 and GG Marmont are reimagined with straw-effect materials that work day to night.
That ease also carries through to the footwear, which is mostly flat or low-heeled. There are flat raffia espadrilles that espouse comfort and chic, and sandals and slides with the house’s Interlocking G motif in leather and raffia that pair easily with more dressed up looks. And, serendipitously, Gucci has also made some big strides in the travel department. Now that it’s summertime, the house’s Valigeria line of luggage and accessories seems more apt than ever, with leather toiletry cases and cabin bags aplenty.
