Welcoming Back The Jelly Shoe Trend Of The 90s
Your mum rocked it and you did too, find the cutest jelly sandals and flats in Singapore that you need in your summer shoe rotation.
By Alby Amalia Permana,
If there is one thing that all people from different generations can relate to, perhaps it would be the jelly shoes. The clear fun-coloured footwear were much more a staple than a fleeting shoe-of-the-moment in the late 90s to early 2000s. Now, it’s made its reappearance as one of the most unexpected shoe trends of this summer.
It started with The Row’s pre-fall 2024 collection, then Diesel launched a collaboration with Brazilian footwear brand, Melissa, delivering new-age jelly shoes. It’s quite a no-brainer – we’ve moved past compromising either comfort or style and these waterproof shoes have answers for both. The rubber-like material takes on various shapes this season. From the nostalgic fisherman sandals, to preppy-with-a-twist ballet flats, and even heels. No matter your take on this matter, you’re bound to see rubbery shoes all over Instagram and the streets this summer.
