The Next JW Anderson X Uniqlo Collection Is A Warm, Cuddly Affair
Fans of Peter Rabbit, rejoice.
By Keng Yang Shuen,
Monsoon season has started in Singapore and most days leave you hankering for the bed. The perfect range to get you kitted out for the dreary weather might be found in JW Anderson's whimsical Fall/Winter 2021 collection for Uniqlo, which takes inspiration from the classic English author Beatrix Potter.
Designer Jonathan Anderson was aiming to create an autumnal British countryside atmosphere with the new collection.
Potter's most famous creation is of course The Tale of Peter Rabbit and here, the coney (and his cousin Benjamin Bunny) are printed across comfy sweatshirts and T-shirts.
“For me this collection was really about embracing the season. I wanted something that felt very autumnal in a way and that also felt quite like autumn in the British countryside," says designer Jonathan Anderson. "I wanted it to feel comfortable and worn. Almost cosy in a way.”
The collection takes inspiration from one of Anderson's favourite childhood authors, Beatrix Potter. The latter's famous Peter Rabbit creation appears as prints in the collection.
We'd say he's pretty much hit it spot on. There are plenty of English countryside tropes (yes, tartans included) in this relatively compact collection (there are 10 clothing items each for women and men), while new item categories include sleepwear and home accessories such as cushions and blankets.
The collection has now been expanded to include sleepwear and home accessories such as cushions.
Selected pieces from the JW Anderson x Uniqlo Fall/Winter 2021 collection will hit the brand's Orchard Central flagship as well Orchard Ion and online stores from December 10, with the full collection available on December 20. Below, some of our favourite pieces.
