The Spring Summer 2017 Trend Lady Gaga Rocked At The Super Bowl
The American singer-songwriter showed this off during her Super Bowl 2017 halftime performance.
By LYDIA TEO,
Just yesterday, Lady Gaga took to the Super Bowl 2017 stage at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, for a 13-minute-long halftime performance that saw her belt out a string of poular hits, from 2008's "Poker Face" to her most recent hit "A Million Reasons" from her latest album, Joanne. What she wore throughout: Custom-made outfits from Italian luxury fashion house Versace.
The one detail that appeared on all three looks? Exaggerated shoulder pads. Whether encrusted with spikes or embellished with Swarovski crystals, they were a glamourised take on American football uniforms (which serve the primary purpose of protecting players from injury). And it's something that fashion has adapted on the Spring Summer 2017 runway too.
Rodarte's version came with Victorian-esque ruffles and poufy rounded sleeves, while Stella McCartney's clean, pared-down rendition was a lot more intellectual.
Jil Sander, meanwhile, gave this look a mannish spin with squarish shoulders, while Salvatore Ferragamo shows us that the best way to pull off exaggerated shoulder pads is to keep your bottom half outfit slim and fitted to avoid overwhelming the look.
