Nicolas Ghesquiere’s next show for Louis Vuitton will take place in New York’s beautiful Frick Collection museum.
Cruise season is well underway, with the top houses taking to various locations around the world to stage mega extravagant shows - we’ve seen Chanel in Biarritz, Dior in Los Angeles, and most recently, Gucci in New York’s Times Square.
Now it’s Louis Vuitton next and the maison is likewise headed for New York, but in a much different setting: The Frick Collection, the much-vaunted temple known for its world-class holding of Old Masters paintings.
Architecturally-speaking, the Frick makes sense; it was a lavish mansion from the Gilded Age turned seamlessly into one of New York’s most beautiful museums. And Nicolas Ghesquiere had made it his signature to stage Louis Vuitton cruise shows in some of the world’s most stunning institutions and spaces - memorable events include the Cruise 2018 show at the Miho Museum in Kyoto; the Cruise 2017 show at Rio de Janeiro’s Museum of Contemporary Art Niteroi; the Cruise 2024 show held on Isola Bella (the small island on Italy’s Lake Maggiore), and many more.
The Louis Vuitton Cruise 2027 show will be screened on May 21, 6am Singapore Time
