Meet The Female Collective: Aude Giraud
Sure, they’ve got style, but they’ve also got the ideas, body of work and point of view to set themselves apart from the #influencer crowd – and shake up the local creative scene. Meet 32-year-old Parisian intellect Aude Giraud, one of six new members in the Female Collective.

A modern-day bohemian intellect, this 32-year old Parisian makes an immediate impression wherever she goes. Giraud is laid-back yet graceful (her uniform: floaty maxis, artisanal jewellery, no makeup), which is why it might surprise some to know that she worked in the gruelling media industry for 10 years – first in programming at Radio France, before becoming a presenter at television station C A Vous (P.S. she’s interviewed Ryan Gosling).
Moving to Singapore last year with her husband and settling down in an arty Tiong Bahru walk-up, she decided to swop the newshound hat for a lighter, yet no less insightful, brand of reportage: a lifestyle, design, and interiors blog dubbed Ask A French. Tastefully curated and written in a crisp, slightly humorous tone, it’s the go-to site for the coolest haunts in the region.
This month, she launches a florist business, Ask A French Flowers, that once again shows off her distinctly French creative eye and, in turn, sets her apart from the burgeoning number of trendy florists here. Expect the use of dried, classic blooms and unexpected yet fragrant elements like mint on everything from bespoke bouquets to silver-plated, pearl-adorned wire crowns. She says: “I’m inspired by Pierre-Joseph Redoute, the botanical court painter of Marie Antoinette. My style is romantic and bucolic, which just so happens to be the trend in Europe now.”
