The Bullet Bra Is Back

Yes the undergarment that defined the mid-century period - and of course made iconic by Madonna's donning of Jean Paul Gaultier's spiky version in 1990 - is back. Miu Miu's iteration poked out from thin silk knits or under slip dresses. Initially the choice to go for bullet bras may seemed a tad backward - bullet bras were after all invented in the 1940s to shape the bust into a pointed, outward projection, accentuating a woman's curves and perfect for the form-fitting, feminine styles of 1950s fashion.

But Miuccia Prada is far too clever for obvious gimmicks. As she told the press post-show, what do we make of the typical accessories of femininity such as the bra, the brooches, the fur? Mrs Prada's answer seems to be make full use of them - as if to say, instead of constricting a woman's body, why not use them as weapons of choice to gird oneself in these dark period, which she likened to war time.

It Was An All-Stars Cast

In recent years, Miu Miu has become such a hot sensation that people don't just want to buy Miu Miu - they want to embody the Miu Miu girl (or guy). Just see how a diverse range of celebrities ranging from FKA Twigs to Willem Dafoe have walked the brand's shows previously. This season, more starry faces were added to the roster, including rising rapper Cortisa Star and actress Sarah Paulson, the latter of whom made her runway debut in a cloche hat, off-the-shoulder dress starring those satin bullet bras that are likely to be a hit from this collection.

Other famous names in the cast included Isabelle Albuquerque, Towa Bird, Raffey Cassidy, Lou Doillon, Rila Fukushimaz, Laura Harrier, Oscar Lesage, Suzanne Lindon, Lena Mantler, Nettspend, Eliot Sumner and Sunday Rose Kidman Urban.

Get Ready For A Return To More Ladylike Styles

Miu Miu has noticeably taken on a younger vibe over the past couple of years - some would say the turning point was Spring Summer 2022's ultra-cropped takes on wardrobe staples - but this season, hemlines were more mid-length than mini, models sported faux fur stoles and dangled classic boxy bags from the crook of their arms.

The signature Mrs Prada twist was felt more in the styling gestures and accessories - the straps on the lingerie dresses worn askew, dresses opening up to reveal decolletage (and those satin bullet bras of course), kooky glasses, and extra-long mannish loafers.

The Retro Sneaker Lives On

The retro sneaker trend has been gaining steam in recent months and shows no sign of letting up, and Miu Miu, one of the key instigators of this movement, is doubling down on it with what appears to be exotic-skin versions of their Gymnasium kicks.

We Need A Return Of Miu Miu Menswear

For the uninitiated, the brand had a dedicated menswear line that ran from 1999 to 2008. In 2022, the brand started to insert select menswear looks in their shows, a trend which continues till today, and according to representatives of the brand, these menswear pieces are actually sold in stores (and not just made for the show). Going by the looks of these Fall Winter 2025 pieces (solid classics paired with Miu Miu's popular distressed leather jackets), we're hoping for the menswear line to be resurrected in full.
