This year, Onitsuka Tiger celebrates its 75th anniversary in style, unveiling its Fall Winter 2024 collection at Milan Fashion Week earlier in February. To honour its founding year, 1949, creative director Andrea Pompilio presented 49 looks for what he’s named the Urban Winter collection.
The collection features a play on boxy silhouettes with mannish wool jackets and peacoats, paired with sequinned silk-panel dresses, skirts, and micro skirts. Vintage-inspired knits add a carefree, effortless energy. The relaxed vibe extends to the trousers, which come in various styles, including low-rise wide-legged pants and stretchy slim-fit options.
The Urban Winter collection from Onitsuka Tiger features a colour palette inspired by the textures and tones of the cityscape, with a clear nod to the brand's iconic yellow hue.
The colour palette is a sophisticated blend of metropolitan grey, black, beige, hazelnut, and, of course, the iconic yellow. This shade has experienced a resurgence in popularity among Gen Z, evoking nostalgia as a nod to the yellow MEXICO 66 trainers famously worn by Uma Thurman in Kill Bill (2003).
A standout piece from Onitsuka Tiger's Fall Winter 2024 collection is this versatile wool neck piece-slash-cropped top, inspired by the brand's iconic track jackets.
The collection also features clever design details, such as the MEXICO 66 SD trainers with a tone-on-tone flame design and an innovative rib-knitted zip-neck wool piece inspired by the brand's popular track jacket. The latter can be worn as a modern scarf or an extreme crop top, making it a versatile addition to any wardrobe. Notably, the wet coating effect on coats and pants is inspired by sudden Tokyo thunderstorms.
