Everything You Need To Know About The Prada Fall Winter 2025 Show
Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons’ "Raw Glamour" collection challenges feminine beauty stereotypes with bold awkwardness.
By Keng Yang Shuen,
IT WAS MIUCCIA AND RAF'S POV ON WHAT FEMININITY CAN LOOK LIKE TODAY
The show opened with a series of four black dresses - but make no mistake, they're not your classic LBDs (little black dresses). Instead, these looks hung loosely on the frame, with critics using words like "mousy" and "frowsy" to describe them - but in a good way. You see, the notion of "ugliness" has long been in the Prada DNA - Mrs Prada has always made it her mission to question stereotypes of beauty. In their bagginess, these dresses almost seemed to say, "so what?" to traditional silhouettes deemed more flattering for the female body. They served a woman who - genuinely - dresses for herself.
THE HAIR AND MAKEUP WAS STRIPPED BACK
Most of the models sported hair that looked as if they'd just woken up and only had time to do a hurried combing down before leaving the house, with seemingly bare, matte complexions - no dewy face cards here please! This deliberate plainness was an open acknowledgement of the turbulent times we live in (climate, geo-political, micro plastics in the brain - take your pick!) and as Mrs Prada told the media after the show, “we are in a very black moment". Their answer to all the bleakness was to double down and “work hard, work very seriously.”
YOU DON'T HAVE TO IRON YOUR CLOTHES ANYMORE
With several looks - including this bright green poncho - sporting in-your-face creases, the designers seem to be saying, who has time for niceties like ironing?!
LET'S HAVE SOME AWKWARD PROPORTIONS
A prominent silhouette in the collection were these skirts with paper-bag waists, which tend to be a challenging proposition, but looked charming when paired with say, a curve-hugging halter-top as pictured here.
AND FUNKY SHOES
Can't get enough of loafers? How about a peep-toe knee-high version?
GET ON THE POINTED TOE BANDWAGON
This silhouette appeared on the majority of the looks, and with Prada putting its muscle behind this vibe, it's going to be trending for the year.
SAY YES TO A RETRO PRINT
Mrs Prada served up several looks awash in what looked like '70s curtain prints - only remixed in neon hues and oversized silhouettes - and the effect was mesmerising.
Y3K FREAKS, GET THESE GLASSES
Anyone who's into slutty metal frame glasses - or the Y3K look - these might just be the holy grail to cop next season.
