Rookies & Haus Concept Store: An Iconic New Independent Multi-Label Store
Vintage fashion and coffee? Say no more.

His business might be called Rookies, but Tan Junyu is anything but one. Now with his girlfriend and new business partner How Suphasiri, the 21‐year‐old has expanded his venture to include an in‐house apparel brand, Rookies Studio; emerging labels from the region; as well as the cafe, Haus Coffee. All located within a single unit in Golden Mile Tower, it transforms the vintage fashion retail experience into a lifestyle one with even Sip & Spin sessions, where DJs come in and drop some tunes. Says Tan: “Today’s customers, especially Gen Zers, are looking for a space that feels unique, engaging and meaningful ... Ultimately, it’s not just about selling products. It’s about building a space where people can discover new things, meet others and keep coming back for the vibe.”
Rookies has grown its venture to feature an in-house apparel brand, Rookies Studio, along with emerging labels from the region.
WHAT IT’S ABOUT: Two words: “fashion” and “coffee”. A young darling in the vintage fashion scene here for its discerning curation of American workwear‐style garments, the just‐over‐a‐year‐old Rookies not only moved into a new location last December and expanded its offerings, but also scaled up to include an in‐store cafe dubbed Haus Coffee.
WHO’S BEHIND IT: Original Rookies founder Tan Junyu has now partnered up with his apparel design‐and‐merchandising‐trained girlfriend How Suphasiri to run this 2.0 version of his vintage‐inspired business venture. Both are 21.
WHERE’S IT LOCATED: The original Rookies was set up in Peninsula Shopping Centre and now, the upgraded version has found a home in another old yet iconic mall: Golden Mile Tower (the unit number is #01‐57). Says Tan: “We’ve always had a soft spot for such malls, which often have a more laid‐back environment that allows for the creativity and flexibility that’s hard to find in newer, more commercial buildings. As part of the younger generation, we should revitalise and reimagine these older spaces.”
All housed within a single unit at Golden Mile Tower, Rookies & Haus Concept Store redefines the vintage fashion retail experience into a full-fledged lifestyle destination – complete with Sip & Spin sessions, where DJs set the vibe with curated tunes.
WHY YOU’LL KEEP GOING BACK: If you thought the original Rookies was lit, it’s even more so
now. On top of the high‐quality range of vintage workwear, streetwear, and rockabilly and Amekaji fashion, the store now stocks fun emerging labels such as Yellow Fever and Isara Boro from Thailand, and its own in‐house apparel brand Rookies Studio. Haus Coffee serves a strong cup of joe that can rival that at any trendy cafe (its beans are exclusive, sourced by the award‐winning Malaysian barista Surender Kumar), alongside the likes of strawberry matcha and banana pudding. After hours, DJs come in for Sip & Spin sessions for an extra dollop of straight vibes. Fashion, coffee and a side of partying – what’s there not to love?
