SHERRY HO, 20, CONTENT CREATOR
TikTok account: @sherrysicle
Started on TikTok: “I posted sporadically from around March 2020, but only seriously started around April last year.”
TikTok stats as of press time: 73.5K followers and 4.7M likes
Why know her: For every aspiring young fashion designer or student out there, this recent Apparel Design and Merchandising graduate from Temasek Polytechnic is your heroine. After all, documenting the process of working on her final-year project for her diploma was what got her viral in the first place. If the Instagram account @1granary offers an insider, meme-charged look at fashion education, Ho’s page is a charming, more personal alternative that reveals her challenges ($250K for school fees), talent (call her work Shushu Tong-esque) and simply life as a fashion girlie Gen Z with big dreams. We’re rooting for you, gurl!
Her background and how it’s shaped her content: “My mother studied fashion and my father works as an art dealer so I’ve always been surrounded by art. Ever since I could hold a pencil, I’ve been drawing and when I was in school I’d always doodle in the margins of my notebooks. My mother taught me how to sew even before I started primary school so I made clothes for my Barbie dolls, and I remember that when I was seven, I had a show-and-tell and I said I was going to be a fashion designer when I grow up and here I am… I think my page appeals to others because going into fashion design is a dream for many people, but it’s an industry that’s quite gate kept. What I provide is a real, behind-the-scenes look into it.”
Her fashion inspirations and favourite labels: “They include Dilara Findikoglu, Alexander McQueen, Shushu/Tong, Simone Rocha, John Galliano, Vivienne Westwood and Mimi Wade who once gave me an interview for a school project!”
How TikTok has helped her to nurture her creative talent: “I actually have not gotten many fashion-related opportunities from TikTok. In fact I find that some people in the industry look down on me for doing TikTok, which is why I’m trying to be more active on Instagram (@sherrysicle). I have however found models for my shows in school through TikTok and I’m very grateful for my audience volunteering themselves as I would not have otherwise been able to assemble such a diverse cast.”
How much of her TikTok personality is true? “I would think it’s pretty accurate.”
Most memorable comment she’s received on TikTok: “Nothing specific comes to mind, but I appreciate every supportive comment that I receive!”

Best thing about TikTok: “The algorithm and the fact that I’ve reached people from all over the world with my videos”
Worst thing about TikTok: “Maybe the stigma that some people have towards it”
Her favourite TikTok accounts: “Raynecorp (@Raynecorp), who is a writer who posts about her essays; Madeline Pendleton (@madeline_pendleton), who is a content creator who gives life advice and whom I learn so much from; and lastly Rian (@thatadult) because I aspire to be able to talk about fashion the way she does.”
If there was no TikTok: “I would not be doing this interview!”
THIS INTERVIEW HAS BEEN EDITED FOR CLARITY AND BREVITY.
