By SOFIA KIM,
#1: Bralettes
Bralettes are officially the new It piece to layer. Worn over utilitarian shirts and printed button-downs - as seen at Prada - they've taken a more conservative role on the runway. Nonetheless, they've also been seen on their own – take Alexander Wang’s wrap-around style, for instance, or Victoria Beckham’s velvet version. Party ready? Definitely.
#2: Ruffles
Brands like Jacquemus and 3.1 Philip Lim took ruffles and reinvented them into a more modern sihouette for Spring. Fendi, meanwhile, incorporated subtle ruffled details for its girly dresses, while Dolce and Gabbana used ruffles to add a romantic and fun spin to their floral frocks. Now here's a great alternative to the ubiquitous LBD.
#3: Metallic hues
Glossy, reflective finishes made their appearance at Saint Laurent (in the form of a gilded V-neck blazer) and Mulberry (it took the shape of a form-fitting shift). We're calling these definite party staples and worth investing every cent in.
#4: '80s shoulder pads
- Oversized, chunky shoulder pads - you know, the kind a football quarterback wears - are back.
- Balenciaga's Demna Gvasalia
- championed it by adding it to blazers and trench coats, while
- Chanel
- 's more relaxed take - and in a psychedelic print, no less - took the runway and made sporty chic looks that much more covetable. If you want to make a head-turning statement, wear these to your next shindig.
