By Carlos Keng,
It’s fashion season once more and we’ve got the lowdown.
In New York, Diane von Furstenberg is back on the official calendar after nearly a decade, with Henry Zankov making his debut as the brand’s new artistic director. Over in London, Alexander McQueen returns to the British capital after showing in Paris for the past three years; it will be Sean McGirr’s first collection for the house in its birth city. Christopher Kane is also starting a new chapter at Mulberry, following the closure of his namesake label earlier this year.
Milan is where some of last season’s biggest appointments get into their sophomore act. Maria Grazia Chiuri returns for her second Fendi collection, and Meryll Rogge follows up her debut at Marni. Moschino, meanwhile, gets a new creative direction from Sunnei founders Loris Messina and Simone Rizzo.
Paris has fewer major debuts, but there are still plenty of reasons to watch. Courreges will unveil the first collection from Drew Henry (who was senior design director under Daniel Lee at Burberry), following the departure of much-loved creative director Nicolas Di Felice earlier this year after five years at the house. Carven will also introduce Kai Nesselrath, while Valentino, Maison Margiela and several other names return to the calendar.
Other fan favourites like Alaia will be doing a presentation of their new studio-designed collection (the brand has yet to appoint a new creative director after Peter Mulier decamped to Versace), while Rabanne will be sitting out the season (new head honcho Olivier Rousteing will be debuting next March).
This story will be updated regularly, and all dates and times are in Singapore time.
