The third iteration of Alex Blake Charlie Sessions - the homegrown music festival by 24 Owls that prides itself on its signature all-women line-up - was held at Pasir Panjang Power Station on December 7, featuring homegrown talents like Shye and Sobs alongside powerhouses like New York-based Juliet Ivy, UK-born Liana Flores, and Thai-Taiwanese shoegaze musician, Wisp. Our FEMALE People Cam caught up with a myriad of the stylish attendees at the festival — scroll on for an eclectic mix of those best-dressed at ABC.

Name: Kristian Lenardt

The fit: "I was aiming for a "sartorial cowboy" look, inspired by Pharrell Williams’ Autumn/Winter 2024 collection and Louis Vuitton’s Fall/Winter 2024 runway. The coat and hat were thrifted, the trousers are from the Vietnamese brand The Idiot, the necklace is Vivienne Westwood, and the boots are vintage."

Favourite act at ABC Sessions: "Definitely Wisp! I’m new to the shoegaze genre, but after seeing her perform, I completely understand why so many people love it. The experience is so visceral – the blend of ethereal vocals, distorted electric guitars, and hard-hitting drums creates a dreamlike, almost otherworldly atmosphere that completely draws you in. I’m so thrilled I managed to get a picture with her."

Favourite fashion moment of 2024: "Jorts. Their resurgence in 2024 says so much about how our generation embraces irony as a form of self-expression – ‘bad taste’ is reclaimed as a deliberate fashion statement. I remember laughing at the idea of jorts a few years ago – like, how could something so awkward and dad-core ever be cool? But now, I catch myself eyeing a pair, even styling them in my head."

Takeaways from 2024: "The value of perseverance and staying true to what you love, despite challenges, is something I’ve come to appreciate deeply. Balancing NS while trying to create impactful content hasn’t been easy, but moments like styling lecturers, grandmas, grandpas, and even MRT characters remind me why I do what I do (he creates fun, playful content on his TikTok account @kristianlenardt). Seeing how my work resonates with people and sparks conversations is incredibly motivating. It’s taught me that if you truly love something, pushing through obstacles isn’t just worth it—it’s part of the journey that makes the end result even more meaningful."

Occupation: Independent arts programmer, producer & DJ

The fit: "The claw clip and choker are from a street market in Chiang Mai. I bought the dress and gloves online a long time ago. The earrings are from my mum, and my boots are from Charles & Keith. Comfort, utility, and function are always a must in all my outfits. I like to balance masculine and feminine elements in my fits and go for different vibes depending on my mood. Today, I wanted to channel something extra feminine and added black biker gloves and boots to show strength, edginess, and a bit of grunge."

Favourite act at ABC Sessions: "They all absolutely slayed with their music and stage presence, each bringing something unique and sincere. The ABC programming team has always done a fantastic job curating the lineup, and I can’t wait for all the future editions to come!"

Favourite fashion moment of 2024: "Representing Singapore for the NTS x Diesel Tracks Club Report project and getting dressed by Diesel was a great opportunity. It also styled me for its store opening at Ion Orchard, and I even got to DJ for one of its events at Beamcube (a techno club in Bangkok). Another highlight was trusting COLOURLAB as a hair model for a silver, milk-y, blue bob, which led me to join the trend of getting bleached brows."

Occupation: Full-time national serviceman firefighter

The fit: "Honestly, I just wear whatever I think looks good and goes hard. For this outfit, I thought it looked cool. It was inspired by Japanese school uniforms, which is why I chose the top – it made me feel like Yuta from Jujutsu Kaisen (a Japanese anime and manga series). The shoes are from Demonia, and the inner shirt? I found it in a trashcan. I was walking home one day, saw it, and thought it went pretty hard, so I had to take it."

Favourite act at ABC Sessions: "I have to say, Wisp was my favourite act. I regularly listen to underground hip-hop from artists like Hi-C, Nettspend, Izaya Tiki, and more. I discovered Wisp on a random playlist and have had her on repeat ever since. This gig was especially fun because the artists I usually have on rotation rarely come to Asia. Getting to see an artist I love and scream their lyrics with my friends was an experience I’ve never had before."

Favourite fashion moment of 2024: "OK is one of the most influential music producers right now, and their collaboration with Yori Sport produced some of my favourite hoodies. I believe music influences fashion and vice versa, and this collab perfectly reflects that connection."

The fit: "My hats and leg warmers are from Taobao, my dress is from a store in Japan, and my shoes are from Demonia."

Favourite act at ABC Sessions: "Liana Flores was my favourite – she’s been in my top five most listened-to artists on Spotify for the past three years."

Favourite fashion moment of 2024: "Definitely the return of the 2014 swag era."

The fit: "I had a lot of unfolded laundry that day and was in a rush, so I didn’t have time to iron my clothes. I grabbed my favourite band T-shirt, which I cropped with kitchen scissors. For the pants, I put on whatever was closest – these H&M baggy jeans I got for around $20."

Favourite act at ABC Sessions: "Liana Flores was fantastic! I loved her so much. She was on repeat during quarantine, and I always thought her voice was beautiful, but she was even more incredible in real life. Hearing her in person was such a nice experience. The rest of the lineup was also amazing. I had a great time moshing with all these nice and wonderful people – it was truly an amazing experience from start to finish."

Favourite fashion moment of 2024: "To be honest, I’m not much of a fashion guy, nor do I follow trends. But the best fashion moment has to be when I saw a random kid at Orchard Road wearing a shark anatomy shirt with jorts and Crocs."

Takeaways from 2024: "Four beer towers and two sojus are my limit. At the end of the day, friends are the most important thing – they always have your back. Love your friends and forgive people."

The fit: "My entire outfit and accessories are actually thrifted. My look was heavily inspired by Liana Flores’ music, specifically the song Orange-Coloured Day. Events like concerts really encourage me to step out of my comfort zone fashion-wise because it’s a great way to meet new people by complimenting each other’s outfits."

Favourite act at ABC Sessions: "All the acts were amazing, but I was most excited for Liana Flores. Having been a fan of hers for years, I was looking forward to hearing her sing live. I was so thankful that ABC invited her to perform in Singapore."

Favourite fashion moment of 2024: "I’m really holding space for Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande’s looks for the Wicked press tour. The green and pink outfits that paid homage to their characters were stunning. I’m a big fan of when movie casts pay homage to their characters through fashion, like Margot Robbie for Barbie and Jenna Ortega for Beetlejuice. I think dressing up makes life more fun, and Singaporeans shouldn’t be afraid to embrace it more often."

The fit: "I stole this lace camisole top from my mother. As for the battle vest, my boyfriend made it – he added the spikes and badges, and we share custody. Favourite fashion moment of 2024: "Y2K emo, ugh yes! I love the striped hair with furry tail accessories and the graphic tees from Affliction and Tapout. Lowkey, it makes me feel like I’m not alone anymore, and that’s okay – it's always good to have more people looking ‘drip-y’!"

Favourite act at ABC Sessions: "Honestly, I came to accompany my girlfriend but if I had to choose one, it would be Sobs because it’s nostalgic and reminds me of my Secondary 2 self."

Favourite fashion moment of 2024: "Remix culture and being yourself."

Takeaways from 2024: "Life is so short that you can’t waste even a day limiting yourself to what someone thinks you can do, versus what you know you can do."

Name: Yvonne Koh

Age: 21

Occupation: Student

The fit: "This year I've been looking into colour analysis and I've found that the winter colour palette suits me best. With this, I’ve been able to match my outfits better! This outfit is a relatively new expression for me, as recently I've added new colours like turquoise and red to my wardrobe. I like layering my outfits and also love leg warmers! Accessories are the most important part, as my outfits are never complete until I look like a walking accessory holder. While picking this outfit in particular, I wanted to go for a more shoegaze-y look because I came for Wisp!"

Favourite act at ABC Sessions: "My favourite act was definitely Wisp! When her debut song Your Face was released back in 2023, it caught my attention as a huge shoegaze fan. My favourite song is Luna, and it even appeared in my Spotify Wrapped this year! I also enjoyed Sobs, which was my first time seeing them in person – they were amazing. I loved the lead singer’s vibe; her outfit and aura during the performance really accentuated the energy of the whole band."

Takeaways from 2024: "Be 100 per cent and unapologetically yourself. I know it sounds cheesy and cliche, but it is truly when you embrace who you are that you’ll be able to express yourself in the most authentic way. Having turned 21, I feel like I’ve finally found my identity and accepted who I am. From there, I was able to attract the best people and have had the best opportunities enter my life."

Occupation: Architectural designer

The fit: "Everything was thrifted! The jewellery is mostly from my mom’s stash; some are gifts. The bow necklace is a pyjama drawstring that I pulled out – I thought it would make a cute accessory. I always need to have some colour in my outfits. I found that I really like how reds and burgundies look on me, so I’ve been curating a monochromatic burgundy wardrobe. I think monochrome outfits are so much fun; I get to play around with different textures and patterns and still keep it cohesive."

Favourite act at ABC Sessions: "I really wanted to catch Liana Flores but sadly I came too late. However, I quite enjoyed Shye’s set. There’s something so communal with how the crowd interacted when she was performing and made it very enjoyable for someone who isn’t really familiar with her music."

Favourite fashion moment of 2024: "My favourite commute hobby is looking at how people personalise their bags. Each one is always decked out with cute personal keychains. There’s something so charming about accessorising and personalising even the smallest bit of yourself."

Takeaways from 2024: "Life is too temporary to take anything too seriously. Nothing is permanent, and knowing that should make living much more exciting."

Name: Goes by the name River

Age: 16

Occupation: Student

The fit: "When I create an outfit, I first pick one item that I want to wear and build the rest of the outfit around it. For this outfit, I styled it around the white button-up and vest. I wanted to incorporate purple elements into my outfit to match my hair, so I chose a black skirt with purple floral prints. I’ve always loved wearing chokers and scarves with every outfit, so I added a purple rose scarf to go with my skirt. I felt like it was still missing something, so I added a tie to balance the purple and black theme of my outfit. Knowing the kind of sets the Alex Blake Charlie sessions were playing, I wanted to add some punk rock elements, so I wore spiked wristbands and finished it off with a silver cuffed belt."

Favourite act at ABC Sessions: "I really loved Shye’s set – her energy was incredible, and it was such a fun environment to be in. I had never heard of her music before, so I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Even though I didn’t know any of the lyrics, I still found myself moving to her music, and I’m sure a lot of people felt the same way. I’ll definitely start listening to her."

Favourite fashion moment of 2024: "Patterned tights. I’ve been following this trend ever since I saw doll-jointed tights, and I’m really happy to see more patterns being created. I think they’re the perfect accessory because they add so much personality and colour to your outfits. If you’re terrified of getting tattoos, tights like these are a great alternative – painless and stylish!"

Takeaways from 2024: "I hid behind a version of myself that was shaped by others' opinions, terrified of judgment. In trying to make people like me, I lost my authenticity and felt unhappy no matter how much I changed. I got tired of pretending, so I decided to put my happiness first. When I felt more true to myself, I attracted people who valued the real me. I’ve learned that the moment you stop pretending is the moment you start owning your life."

Occupation: Musician

The fit: "The shirt was passed down from my grandma. The jeans are from a random shop in Myeongdong. The Lanvin belt is from my mum. The shoes are Apollo Single Sole leather shoes from Underground. The carabiner is merch from a local artist and producer, Daystar, who I attended ABC with. I bought the can of water at ABC and attached it to the carabiner because the festival didn’t allow us to bring in plain water or empty water bottles."

Favourite act at ABC Sessions: "Sobs. They were one of the first artists from Singapore I ever listened to, and it’s been a couple of years since I last saw them live. Hearing them live reminded me of how exciting it is to discover a local artist that you really like! My favourite song they played was 'Girl'."

The fit: "My top and shoes are from Taobao. The top has an interesting texture and a cute print that I really like. I initially bought it to wear to work, but it matched the pink theme I was going for today. My skirt is from Gadis Dan Gula, a local brand that was a vendor at the Me-You flea market. I’m a maximalist who loves to play around with colours, patterns, and textures, so this skirt is truly an embodiment of that. The bag charm is part of Good Totes’ sister brand, Girlfriend Material – dare I say…better than a Labubu?"

Favourite act at ABC Sessions: "Juliet Ivy! Her lyrics mirror the existentialism I often feel, but she composes in a way that feels like a hug rather than another heavy song. My favourite song right now is Lug."

Favourite fashion moment of 2024: "Bows! Some might say they’re Gen Z’s moustache, but I don’t care. They fit my style perfectly because of how ultra-feminine they are, reminding me of the innocence of girlhood. Sandy Liang really knew what she was doing, and even if this trend fades, it will stay with me."

Takeaways from 2024: "Unapologetically take up space. Don’t dim your light to fit a mould, and you’ll attract the right people and opportunities."

Name: Sofia Rahim

The fit: "I tend to adapt my outfits to suit the event’s atmosphere, with darker undertones. For the ABC session, since Wisp was performing, I wanted to wear something whimsical and striking, so I chose a lace top, a velvet maxi skirt, and a silver chain. Maximalist jewellery is a signature aspect of my outfits, and I like to mix vintage and modern silver together to add texture. I’m also a big fan of layering necklaces, although for this outfit, I only have two as I didn’t want to overpower the look. Everything is a mix of thrifted, gifted, or bought from small businesses on Taobao."

Favourite act at ABC Sessions: "I loved Wisp, but it was my first time listening to Shye live, so I absolutely fell in love with her voice. I loved her cover of Come Inside Of My Heart (by IV of Spades), and I will definitely be listening to her from now on. I also have to say that when Wisp performed I Remember How Your Hands Felt On Mine, it was an incredible experience. The lyrics are so beautiful, and with Wisp’s melancholic instrumentals, it made for an absolutely magnificent experience."

Favourite fashion moment of 2024: "I definitely saw an emergence of 2000s low-rise jeans, specifically from brands like G Rise and True Religion. Although they can be pricey, I love that people are buying or thrifting these jeans because they offer much better quality than your average fast fashion jeans and they last so much longer too. The denim is more durable, and its designs are so much sexier."

Takeaways from 2024: "My biggest lesson is that thoughts and feelings mean nothing if there is no action. This lesson has taught me to set better boundaries and be more thoughtful about friendships."
