Stussy has been called the Chanel of streetwear, a bastion of California skate/surf culture, a magnet for designer collaborators from Kim Jones to Rick Owens... and now it's the latest comeback in the Singapore retail scene. After closing its brick-and-mortar stores here a few years ago (though you can still cop pieces at Dover Street Market Singapore), the American label has just reopened its standalone Chapter Store concept boutique in #01-01 Scotts Square.

Designed by Los Angeles architecture studio Perron-Roettinger (it's also behind Chapter Store outposts in cities like Tokyo and Shanghai), the space exudes SoCal cool with its industrial-meets-natural design filled with polished concrete, Cantino marble and light oak finishings. In terms of merchandise, expect streetwear staples such as T-shirts, caps and cargo pants, as well as the ‘Singapore Surfman’ logo tee designed exclusively for the opening.

Equally exciting were the guests at the recent store opening – who included a hat-loving marketeer and a multi-hyphenate with a penchant for the '70s aesthetic. Intrigued? Scroll on for more.

Who: Dzakirin Zharfan, barber, model, graphic designer and frontman of an alternative rock band

What he is wearing: Vintage Dolce & Gabbana polo shirt; Deep Cuts Tailor pants; Casio watch; and Dr. Martens shoes

Why he loves being a barber: "I am very into subcultures from past decades. In particular, I enjoy recreating haircuts from the '60s and '70s. That's why I try to incorporate a bit of style influences from these eras in my dressing – such as this spearpoint collar on my top, which was popular in the '70s."

Who: Ling JiaXin, business and management student

What she is wearing: Stussy sweater; skirt and bag designed by her friend; Chanel spectacles; and Nike sneakers

On a scale of one to 10, how big of a shopaholic is she: "Maybe an eight? I spend about 70 per cent of my monthly allowance on clothing. I once bought a Comme des Garcons skirt from the Spring/Summer 2015 collection for $2,000. It was heavy and felt like you were wearing an armour. I've only worn it once; it's now sitting in my wardrobe where I can admire it – but it was all worth it."

Who: Imran Yusof, motion graphics designer

What he is wearing: Supreme sweater and bag; Wrangler pants; Vivienne Westwood necklace; and Dr. Martens shoes

His shopping habit: "I've kind of moved away from buying a lot of new clothes – especially since the curated vintage scene is so big right now.
