Dubbed the 'Universal Passport', the English luxury fashion house celebrates notions of freedom, humanity and togetherness by capitalising on the collective desire to make the most of our youth and tapping on the dreams of experiencing life unapologetically once more.
Supermodel Joan Smalls guest stars at Burberry's 'Universal Passport' menswear presentation atop the shoulders of a male model.
Braced with an honest and daring attitude, models strutted down the deserted sandy dunes to a hypnotising electronic dance soundtrack in a gender-fluid wardrobe of reinterpreted classics, abstract prints and non-conforming silhouettes that evokes a fresh sex appeal and youthful positivity.
Outerwear staples like the iconic trench coat are pushed to the fore in new sleeveless iterations that are as experimental as they are functional for the summertime. Here, we see the reconstructed trench designed with raglan and panelled capped sleeves as well as a stand collar.
Below, we give you a quick rundown of the show.
The brand transported us to the quietly-deserted sandy dunes of London's Millenium Mills in the Royal Victoria Docks that almost gives off the effect of a dystopian movie and a music festival fantasy.
Inspired by the spiritual power of music and movement, models walked the runway to trance-like music by the English psychedelic EDM group Shpongle, led by musicians Simon Posford and Raja Ram. If you can't get enough of the genre-defying psybient tunes from the duo, you can have a listen and reminisce the rave experience over on this curated Spotfiy playlist.
Riccardo Tisci has never shied away from a little subversive jewellery inspired by body piercings. This time we noticed his fashion tribe donning bold faux glass facial piercings that hug the nose bridge to match the hardware as an expression of utilitarian-meets-rave fashion aesthetic.
Honing in on the allure of intimates and provocative dressing, Burberry proves that anyone can look sexy regardless of gender. Think men's halter tops, skin-baring silhouettes, leather-on-leather, peekaboo cutouts, unisex harnesses and sequinned party dresses.
Riccardo Tisci's fondness of wildlife has very much been documented in his past works such as the Animal Kingdom capsule For spring, he's turning his attention to the chic black and white stripes of the zebra.
To some, the allover print might seem tacky-looking or cheugy. However, Tisci debunks this belief and makes the look cool again by adorning it on the trims of outerwear and exaggerated across deconstructed chest plates.
